Not my argument. The anti-gunners' argument: Such weapons are used in mass shootings like Orlando, San Bernardino, etc. That's a VERY substantial negative.

I don't see that being overcome by the "positive" of having such rifles for recreational shooting, and I haven't been able to think up a good counter-argument.

They upheld it, in as much as they refused to hear the case. At some point, I think they will have to hear the case as there are conflicting decisions by two seperate circuits. While the 2nd Circuit upheld the bans, the 4th Circuit did not uphold Marylands law. Unless of course they are just going to let the individual states decide how they interpret the constitution.

"I'm a Member of a sport-target shooting online Forum. Our primary goal is extreme accuracy, at extended ranges. To that end, many build a shooting instrument based on the civilian semi-automatic AR-15 action.

'Not unlike other Members, I'm concerned with recent events which, again, have prompted calls for gun control. Perhaps I'm mistaken, but it seems like it would also be quite a big negative to those in the middle ground: The general public who has no interest in owning such rifles, and sees no value in having them on the market. There are also legislators who may be "on the fence" about the subject.

Since I've never heard of an AR15 being used in self-defense, I'd wager that such events are so rare as to be dismissed for statistical insignificance.

While that's a cute phrase, it's not the least bit helpful in countering the emotional impact of 100 people being maimed and murdered by one lunatic with an assault rifle.

Stanc, the best method to instruct and teach the true use of the AR-15 and the Second Amendment is by befriending people and taking them to the rifle range. I have friends who came to the US from France who had nothing but disdain for hunting and firearms. The mother would not even go into a room if a BB gun was present. Today she has shot in many local matches and both her and her husband own many firearms. Today they laugh about their former hoplophobia but they stressed to me that a life time of anti gun propaganda can not be changed over night. All gun owners are at a disadvantage when it comes to positive air time compared to the oppositions. It is no mistake most gun owners are portrayed in movies as ignorant, unemployed, white bigots This is why all gun owners must speak up and educate people about the truth. Firearm education must come from moral people who are trusted and respected or it is all for nothing so always be on your best behavior. The AR-15 is one of the, "if not the most" popular rifle in the United States. When the pro gun side talks about firearm education it means explaining the truth and responsibility of gun ownership. When the anti-gun people talk about gun education it means lying and fear mongering propaganda. The best education comes from the shooting sports where most firearm fears seem to melt away and is replaced by understanding and the love of shooting.

the orlando terrorist went into some kind of rage over being jilted at the gay bar--

after looking at what all went on with him , it looks like he was planning an attack elsewhere , and just became furious at his BF and attacked th gay bar rather than following the plan.

just like san-berdino --- farook blew his stack at a co-worker and came back and attacked -- the plan was far more ambitious , by attacking on a personal grudge it sort of spoiled the main plan-- for a while.

i suspect there is a lot more going on than just a "homophobic kook" the media keeps trying to sell ---

if what i suspect is correct-- if the terrorist get organised were going to have a much worse attack that what we have seen recently-- bombs, guns and much death.

I would like to know why they think you can buy a gun over the ole inner web. In Texas if you do not hold a CHL then you have to fill out the paper work and wait for the O-K. Your purchase must be shipped to an FFL shop? I am just so tired of taking hits for what other IDIOTS do. Every time something bad happens us law abiding citizens are shoved into the mess with the crazy people! I AM TIRED!!! BANG BANG!!

Dan, the only hatred I see is coming from the psychopaths killing others for what ever reason and the psychopaths who wish to disarm and make us helpless for insane political ideology fantasy's. Well, guess this one has gone far enough.

Somehow I don't think anyone here needs to convince anyone here that the anti gun movement is ethically and morally corrupt. Or that the 2A is a universal right to our citizens and not a privilege granted at the whim of the government.
