Right on schedule UPS delivered the bolt carrier for what was to be the final piece of this puzzle. It wasn't that easy.
As several members here (LRRPF52 & Shivesy) suspected the gas port was a little undersized. Using an H2 buffer and factory Hornady 123amax it didn't have enough pressure to eject any of the first 8 rounds fired. As per the barrel manufactures instructions cleaning between each round.
After several private messages with LRRPF52 we decided to go with a standard carbine buffer & spring, and to also increase the gas port diameter to .094 ( 3/32 drill bit).
With these steps taken she is running very well. With the gas block only half open it is cycling reliably, the bolt locking back on an empty mag, and no sign of any damage to the brass.
Here are shots 13-22 taken in less than 1 minute at 75 yards. The flyer is a first round
clean bore with factory 123amax, The next 9 are 123gn Nostler custom comps over 26gn of TAC using a Federal match small rifle primer in new AA/lapua brass.

Seeing as this build is complete I'll close this thread by saying thanks again for all the help and information. I still owe rickOshay some info on the TAC loading. As soon as I run a ladder test and get out the Chrono I'll get them posted in the reloading area.

Great to see it doing well. I know your happy with that baby. I have 2 questions and 1 is for you Hank. I see back a few post where you polished your feed ramps and also knocked off the inside edges of the 2 and 3 o'clock lugs. I understand the polishing of the feed ramps but really don't understand the 2 and 3 o'clock lug polishing method. Plus I couldn't see in your pic where this polishing was done. I'm thinking about doing this to my barrel extension.
My 2nd question goes to Paul. Again, back a few post, you modified your ejector by polishing your ejector. Are you talking the small round nub that sticks out from the bolt face? If so, it looks like you took off the inside sharp edge, correct?

I use a Dremel with one of the football-shaped green polishing tools, which is not too aggressive on metal finishes. I just do a little at a time, clean it up, place it in the upper to check fit and mate-up, then pull it and do a little more. I like to take the edges off the feed ramps, but not go crazy on the surface thickness, since this is a critical part under pressure that is heat-treated/surface-hardened.
The reasoning behind taking the inside edge off of the 2 and 3 o'clock lugs is to minimize scratching and damage to the brass as it is extracted.
