Public schools are fertile grounds for brain washing into the libtard mindset.
I pulled my older two from public schools early on. While they decided not to pursue a college degree, they exhibit more individual thought and critical analysis than most mature adults (they are in their 20's now).
When we put my youngest back into public schools here in Texas after my military retirement (based upon "rave" reviews of the local schools), my daughter (one of the elder two) counseled my wife and I that we should pull my son out of public schools and put him in private or home school. She has two years of college and had seen the public school product.
BTW, we only lasted two years in public schools before pulling the youngest. Between lack of teacher control in classroom, social agenda in classroom and curriculum, excessive bullying without the option to defend oneself without being "expelled or suspended", we had enough.
My youngest also displays a stronger critical thinking ability than most mature adults (and he just turned 17). As a former Senior Patrol Leader in his BSA Troop, he had to deal with the public school product as well as some home schooled and private schooled boys. He doesn't like dealing with the public schooled kids. Between their behavior issues, inability to perform basic math, and lack of understanding our Republic and core values, he is constantly on the edge with those boys. He is nearly done with his Eagle Project planning, and has more than the required number of merit badges for Eagle.
My youngest and I have been taking Precision Rifle courses from VX Marksmanship here in DFW area. Have also taken Pistol 1 and plan on Carbine 1 soon. I should get hooked up with some of the Grendel former special ops bro's and get some training/mentoring for the boy...he plans on going Army (which is tough for this fighter pilot to comprehend...

Looks like you did a good job dad. I wish more parents were like you and your wife. No matter what you may accomplish in this world raising ones children correctly is the most important. Boy scouts is a great organization and tell your son well done upon his completion of Eagle scout. He will have earned it

Didn't you know that public schools and public after schools programs, coupled with liberal TV at home means that the parents get a free ride and the upbringing is by teachers who are constrained from applying discipline?
The results, even if seriously distressing, should not be a surprise.

I am a Registered Nurse and currently work primarily on a Youth Psychiatric Treatment Unit. Most of my job has very little to do with treating actual mental illness and mostly treating the effects of poor or no parenting. I don't see eye to eye with the Social worker crowd who have given us the Mental Health treatment system in place in are country today. "It's not his fault, he doesn't understand that what he did is wrong." I made the comment one day to a coworker that most of the kids we take care of would be better off if someone took their parents out back and shot them in the head. This was heard by one of the social workers who said "Oh thats not true, I worked with most of their parents when they were patients here and they are trying as hard as they can" I chose at that point to shut my mouth and not comment on the appearent lack of effectiveness of what we were doing since it had become multigenerational. I guess I shouldn't knock it though. It is good job security for me but it bodes poorly for the future.

A+ on that Joe, I'm also an RN, I've done mostly ER and some psych nursing since 1984. We see the generational aspect every day. It seems that with the frantic pace of modern life good parenting is very difficult. Also with the drug epidemic we also see lots of kids from the best parents whose lives are FUBAR.

Bjorn, you need to come to the Precision Rifle Boomershoot in Idaho the last weekend in April. Most of the staff is military or retired military. LR1955 is retired Special Forces, LRRPF52 spent his time in 3 different Scout Sniper Platoons, Long Range Surveillance, and 82nd Airborne. Another instructor spent his miliary time in a nuke sub, and is a current world champion F Class shooter.
Between them, your son would get a good idea of what he is looking forward towards!

The Precision Rifle Clinic is no longer registered as a seperate event, and the prices have increased. We hadn't raised prices for years, but with gas prices up, and with associated costs, we had to raise them this year.
You can register through the regular Boomershoot site for the Precision Rifle clinic.

None as of today. Like many blue states (Washington is split by the Cascade Mountains. The east side is heavily red, the west side is dominated by King County, where Seattle is, and is blue.) Democrat legislators have introduced bills, but no one knows how that will turn out. We don't THINK they can make changes to our gun laws, but......

I'm leaning heavily on flying in...I'm not sure what the roads are like through MT and ID in late April and it is quite a distance from Fort Worth!

We've had guys fly in from Texas and drive in from there as well.
You can fly all the way into Pullman/Moscow, but a better bet is Spokane and then rent and drive. Its a nice drive down from Spokane.

Of course it depends on shooter/spotter coordination and rapidity of fire based on that. The first year I went, I took my two sons, who were 19 and 21 at the time. We went through 600 rounds in the two days.
To be safe, I tell people to expect 100-200 rounds per shooter, per day. Most actually shoot 50-100, but having too much is always better than not enough! Weather plays a big role. If its windy (and it can be really windy!) then you will shoot more ammo, because hits are harder.
It also depends on your shooting at the boomers that we shoot at the end of the day. Everyone gets 3 boomers, but some people have a hard time hitting the 4 inch boomers at 375 yards, and after the shooters have had 15-20 minutes, we open it up and you can poach. One year I hit my 3 boomers in 4 shots, waited until time was up, and went poaching. I had 9 consecutive hits, but by then it was getting harder to see and hit the targets left, so I probably shot another 25 rounds, I got some hits, but nothing like those first 13 shots! My total for the day, if I had been in the clinic would probably have been in the 130 range, maybe even a bit more.
Of course, I've never come close to getting 12 targets with 13 shots since!
