I have found the same. But it seems like even high shots kill fast. I shot a sow last night and didn't compensate enough for her distance (she was a 100yds and I'm sighted in at 300) so it hit her high on the back but still dropped her like a rock.

I could use some more pork for the freezer.I've had much more consistent drop-in-their-tracks kills with high shoulder shots myself. As a kid I was taught to aim for the heart but after tracking many deer with good, solid low vital hits and seeing the results of low wounding shots (from other hunters) I started aiming high shoulder. Every double lung hit I've made has put the critter down in their hoof prints. If you hit high, you get spine. If you miss high, you miss clean. If you hit low, you are still in vitals. An aim point of just above the shoulder blade has been the most effective and forgiving in my experience.
