Pulled the trigger today on an Odin Works 6.5 Grendel rifle. Can't wait for it to arrive. Frustrated with Leupold though, they offer a military discount on in stock items. They have nothing in stock! ARGH.
Claim its Covid and supply chain issues. HMMM been over two years since Covid. Guess time to find another scope brand!

There are many good scope options out there ..Night Force and Vortex both being very popular ..
The NF SHV has been a great , not too expensive scope for me. I do not baby my equipment Much
I dont shoot hardly ever from bench and a mechanical rest . Tripods and sandbags are what I hunt with so thats what I practice with. Cant stand to shoot paper .steel is your friend .paint them white, stick a small adhesive target in the center of the largest plate to check zero. The ping is such a satisfying sound .kind of reminds me of the sound of your girlfriends panties hitting the floor in the hayloft when we were kids
I know you are absolutely going to love this rifle I have 2 SHV scopes and just move them from rifle to rifle.
200, 300 & 400 plates is where the action is .
Group shooters are a bunch of WOKE sissys

Reloading might be a great hobby for you .we have the most knowledgeable and safest re-loaders in the USA right at your fingertips. Klem and Greyfox are two of the best at answering questions . Last week I had a question on a Cavity Back copper bullets and had to PM Klem.
99.999% of the time I stick with published book loads ..I can always find a combination of bullet and powder in the book thats shoots great. Always a long way below max loads. I have not met the hog that can tell the difference between a bullet moving 2700 fps. VS 3000fps. Shot some pigs at 200 yards Thursday on a feeder, Bang flop, flop, flop, flop
This is the first time Ive killed a pig at 200 in years .the other kills were at 60 to 75 yards. A 22 magnum will put them down at that range. My sugar shot is always to try to put it in his ear canal. .
I have as many gators in central GA as you do on your farm. If the cloven hooved beast gets to waters edge on the rice dikes a gator will get him before you can get out of your stand. Everything has a right to eat.
I hunted 3 nights right in the swamp, had 2 thermals and didnt really need them. Very strange indeed. My 3 hunting buddies were not eaten alive either.
I hope your rifle gets here in a hurry.

The toy has arrived. pic below. Did the recommended break in of 20 shots. Does not like Hornady Black, did much better with Hornady ELD Match.
Came home to clean it good going back shortly!

I want you to go to AR15.BuildBox in our vendor section, they have two excellent books that you have got to have.
I bought the books first before I ever seen a Grendel. Bolt guns were all I ever shot, I owned 2 ARs but did not care for them very much. When I shot them it was like having a live snake in my hands .
Now a few years later, the only gun I want to shoot is my Grendel.
I quit deer hunting many years ago when I started hunting pigs at night. The G gun is a pig killing machine.
Please keep us posted on your progress and think seriously about reloading.

Put them at the edge of the Flint River .They will be gone in 24 hours, we have a real gator problem in GA .Lots of old, old rice fields in central Ga.
Haul them off with a front end loader.
There is one small field, about 200 acres that is peanuts one year, beans the next. We have killed 30 in a night there.
We are going to have to poison them, I hate to see that real nasty stuff.
Pigs and chemical prices are killing the row farmers this year.

Wow! I just google image searched "Georgia flint river alligators". Terrifying.
As for the hogs. The bait in a fence / cage is the only way to actually reduce their numbers. Not as fun, but way more effective.
Once you get a few set up one guy can take 30 a night, every night.

Got a call into my buddy who owns some property on the river. Waiting on a return call. I'm sure he'll give me the green light to bait up some porkers. Last season on his place was really weird. We planted food plots after seeing sign, knowing we were going to have to post sentry for the first few nights to protect our hard work. They simply disappeared. We though perhaps one of the adjoining land owners might have used poison. First time in years we went a season without hogs. Breath of fresh air.
I'll put out some corn and cameras and see what happens. if nothing else he'll get some preseason scouting pics!
That was a mound of pigs! Looks like a ton of fun.

They are still there! Ive gone 4 or 5 times in a row to some top spots, without a single sighting. Very next trip my whole group will kill a couple each. They are actually pretty hard to hunt. It gets under your skin.
We have been getting in our stands at 18 or 1900 that is way too early for me ..but we have all killed pigs before dark. I like getting in my stand 2100 and hunting until 0300 I take a mouth call with me to keep myself entertained .
Kill a song dog every now and then.
I cant stand poison but in the same vein, Im not using the dirt to feed my family.
Pigs come and go, I am convinced they are going to take over in Georgia
Stay with it ..99% of being a great pig hunter is not giving up .
Everyone says they are stupid and easy to hunt ..that has not been my observation at all
I am proud of every pig I kill .glad at 72/years old that I can still do it.
Im a very lucky man.
