Leupold medium rings 5.0 oz
Leupold Vx3i 4.5-14x40(30mm side focus) cds scope is 15.0 oz.

Scoped rifle is 8.0 lbs on the nose. 8.2 ft/lbs recoil energy, a sweetheart to shoot.

Right on. Sounds nice!

Just picked it up after having my smith pull the carbon off my Howa and stuffing into the cz.

I assume you used a carbon blank had it reamed and threaded? I would like to put a proof barrel on a Cz, doing my homework so I know what I’m getting into.

Beeyootiful rifle!

got your pm and replied there as well, that rifle I have pics on my current instagram page even though I sold it, @65grendelhunters, anyway on the proof carbon 6.5 barrel list only one has the smaller diameter shank of 1.13" (from memory but you'll see it when you're scrolling) while the rest are 1.2", it's a 1-8 twist, 24" sendero contour, I believe I have the Manson reamer and take the barrel, reamer, go/no go gauge to your smith and he should be able to do the rest

Don’t think it’s quite that simple here in the states. CZ barrels are metric threads, most regular gunsmiths here are setup to cut “standard” threads. Switching back and forth between metric and standard drives the cost of the labor through the roof and makes it impractical. At least around here. He did say, he thought PAC-Nor would/could cut metric threads on the tenon before shipping. Don’t know!

Pac-nor does not chamber for 6.5 grendel, I sent them a email confirming since it's not on the list of what they chamber, so they are a no go at this time.

Roger that, I was thinking/hoping to do the 6mm ARC. Having said that, if they don’t do the 6.5, it seems unlikely they’ll do the 6mm ARC either! Thanks for the heads up.

Didn’t catch this the first time but, with regards to PacNor, since they are apparently already set up for it. They would only cut the tenon with metric threads before shipping the barrel. Then your local gunsmith would actually cut the chamber.

I deleted the first reply, misread the other posts, just getting back to it now. My apologies.

Not looking for, or want PacNor to cut the chamber, only to thread the tenon before sending the barrel out. Since they apparently already have a lathe setup for metric threads and offer the service. My local gunsmith will cut the chamber and crown, then install the barrel.

maybe I'm spoiled with a smith who is a machinist by trade? but yes I do believe they are metric threads, my smith didn't even bat an eye at it when I brought it up

Don't know about "most" gunsmiths as I have always done my own work. But, unless you are using a pre-WWII made lathe, most modern lathes have a simple solution to switch between metric and "std" threads. Move a lever or at the most swop out the lead screw transfer gears and that takes seconds or at the most, 10 or 20 minutes.

I taught it to my machine shop students. If my "Juvenal Delinquents" could learn the procedure, certainly a practicing Gunsmith should be just as capable.

Apparently my gunsmith has a “Pre-WWII” machine! Rolleyes He went on and on about how difficult and what a PITA it was to change the gears!

Maybe it’s time I find a new Gunsmith! Cool

My guess is that he has a thing against the metric system. For awhile, I worked in a factory that made precision bearings for the transportation industry. One of our most popular had a 20mm ID, but no-one knew it was metric because we called it 0.7874". When Engineering decided to go all metric (to match up with our competition), you should have heard all of the howling about how our machines couldn't cut a metric dimension. Tell your gunsmith to get with the program.
