Anyone with common sense knows that the mob had no business being in there on private property. But leave it to a liberal to side with the enemy.Best thing to do is ignore the liberal just like most others on this site have learned to do.

I can't believe there are people on here that are condemning the man for pulling the gun in defense of life and property and physical harm??? Especially by these particular "protestors"

From the hit piece, all I could discern is the McClosky's know how to use the legal system.. I would gather any good lawyer would understand such things.. Looks like they won more cases than they lost..Guilt is not based on popularity. For example, only a judge can order an eviction and it has to be done legally following state and federal law.. Entering a gated community without permission is still trespassing, and considering the general mayhem being perpetrated across the nation by violent leftist, their concern was quite understandable....https://www.foxnews.com/us/missouri-governor-pardon-mccloskey-couple

Yes, we know what stand your ground law is. I have yet to see evidence that the McClosky's were threatened before producing guns and pointing them at the BLM folks. Have you? I have notice none has been produced in this thread. They claim they were. Like I said, I am sure their security system will have all the supporting evidence to back their claims, right?

Yes, the McCloskys are lawyers. No doubt they know how to use the system and abuse the system.

If the protesters had physically done something to the McClosky's, I would agree with you 100%. Producing the guns was fine (though tactically stupid on their part), but pointing the guns at the protestors is where the issue is of concern. Did they do that just because people were entering the community or did they have a credible threat? If the threat is not credible, then they committed assault. The current video evidence available looks like the McCloskys were overly hasty in pointing their guns at the crowd. That may not be what comes out in court, however.

Just curious, what had these "particular" protestors done other than walk through the gate of the community and make some noise?

I made no comparison to "communist burning our cities." You're conflating two different issues: The riots that have occurred, and the subject of this thread (the reaction of two individuals to peaceful protesters entering a gated community).

And I find it interesting that apparently it isn't trespassing or destruction of property to which you object, but who is doing the trespassing or destruction.

What in devil more did they have to do. Good Grief, read some of the threats that were made. I'm out. That gate was enough for me the second they tore it down and entered my property.

I can't believe there are people on here who think that anyone here condemned McCloskey for getting his rifle.

I'm not interested in reading threats that the McCloskeys claim were made. Their credibility is nil.

Now, if you can link to video where such threats are actually discernible, so I can hear them for myself...

Popeye212 Wrote:That gate was enough for me the second they tore it down and entered my property.
Apparently you ignored the video which shows that the protesters did not tear down the gate to enter the community.

Double Naught Spy Wrote:Does castle doctrine apply to protecting gated communities? I don't think so.

My understanding of Missouri castle doctrine law is that is pertains to intruders in your home, not trespassers on your land or in your community. The BLM folks did not appear to gain entry or attempt to gain entry into the McClosky home.

Apparently you don't. I repeat: Missouri, stand your ground law: if you have the right to be in a specific location, you have the right to defend yourself or anyone else in serious danger. ... Generally, stand your ground laws give people the legal right to defend themselves and anyone else who is in mortal danger (as long as they have a legal right to be in the area). Weather you believe they were or weren't being threatened or if they abuse the legal system is irrelevant. It is what can be proven in a court of law...The mob was trespassing and BLM has a history of violence, arson and vandalism, which is a reasonable assumption they were in immediate threat. Of course once again, it is what the legal system will determine that counts...

Peaceful protesters don't trespass on private property, which is a criminal offence..Yes I do draw the line between trespassing and destruction of property when it involves communist agitators, "who support the use of terrorist tactics" while trying to over throw our Constitutional Republic and people who rebelled against British tyranny when this nation was founded....

We’re probably never going to know the truth. Because those liberal trespassers edited the video .I believe the McCloskey’s were threatened.Because I take anyone’s word over a lying communist liberal.

Your statement is not supported by the facts. The protesters on Portland Place were peaceful. They did not do any rioting, looting, burning, or killing.

And during the 1950s and 1960s, participants in the civil rights movement conducted numerous peaceful protests, violating many State and local laws.

Popeye claimed there is video wherein the alleged threats can be heard.

Although neither Popeye nor any other person who made such a claim has posted a link to the video, which makes me think it probably never existed.

Since the McCloskeys have a long history of hostility and aggressive behavior toward other members of their own community -- including threatening to shoot one neighbor for trespassing -- I'm going with "just because people were entering the community."

I have yet to see any credible evidence that protesters made threats to kill the McCloskeys.

Again, you have some proof of a threat? What were they defending against? People walking and chanting? Scary stuff walking and chanting.

I like how you discount their ugly history but give credence to the history of BLM. Funny how you discount historical information so conveniently when it doesn't fit your narrative.

Since you are such a fine legal eagle, maybe you can explain the charges levied against the McCloskeys' today.

Like I said, I am sure the McCloskeys will present video and audio from their security system that will support their case, right?

I have no doubt they were threatened. The question is whether they were threatened before or pointing their guns at the crowd.

Ugly history is your opinion, based on zero prosecution LOL. Black lives matter's history is obvious with many convictions and statements of such... No legal eagle here, just observation based on facts given so far, unlike yourself.. The DA has to prove this case, before I will condemn their actions, "unlike you playing mentalist" by stating their securely system will support their case...There is political controversy, since the governor stated he will probably pardon them if convicted...Like I have stated many times before, "we can give conjecture all day" the only thing that matters is a conviction......Last week, Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., urged Attorney General Bill Barr to investigate Gardner over her decision to investigate the couple, saying the prosecutor has been hostile to gun rights in the past.

That Fox news article indicates they are being charged with "felony unlawful use of a weapon"... wav(ing) weapons in a threatening manner.
Does not sound like "assault" in that article.

Sounds totally like a political scenario to me. I don't know the accused nor do I have a dog in that (state) fight... but they are still innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Regardless of anyone's personal opinions of them as persons.

And it also sounds like at least some in the State Prosecutorial ranks in Mo do believe the state's castle doctrine applies.
Their views kind of over-ride out-o-staters' views...

Fun fact: More than three dozen neighbors of the McCloskeys condemned “the behavior of anyone who uses threats of violence, especially through the brandishing of firearms, to disrupt peaceful protest, whether it be in this neighborhood or anywhere in the United States."
