Howa Mini Action reloaders COAL / CBTO - Briano23 - 07-16-2020
After reading several reloading manuals I chose for my first load to use a OAL of 2.260" or 1.673" CBTO, 123 gr eld-m with 26.3 to 27.0 gr of IMR 8208 and CCI450 primer
My bullet jump is 0.080" of the lands
which will leave me plenty of room to experiment looking for the ideal Target/ Hunting load.
Powder wise I have IMR 8208, H335, H322, and CFE 223
and all the reload data for each.
What do you think of the 6.5 Grendel reloading Handbooks? Look to get both versions.

What you really need is a sinclair "nut".

123gr Nosler Comps = 2.292 Coal -1.782 CBTO
130gr Nosler RDF = 2.420 Coal - 1.774 CBTO
130gr Berger OTM TAC = 2.366 Coal - 1.758 CBTO
130gr Hornady ELD = 2.360 Coal - 1.743 CBTO
Using a Hornady Lock-N-Load Case length Gauge.
AS always, this is my barrel YMMV !
My Mags are 2.34 max length

I generally start at 10-15 thou for any rifle I dont like a jam as im looking for ultra reliable hunting performance
As others have said most projectiles will run out of room in the mag well before hitting the lans
By all means messure that its good to know how much jump you do have but for the most part you can just load maximum coal for the Magazine and go from there
If it doesnt fit in the magazine its pointless unless you are a bench rest shooter or target shooter
But as a hunter fitting in the magazine is the main issue to be sure of

And how far are you off the lands for your seated bullet?
Any bullet type data would be great.
Doesnt matter what numbers theyre seeing, every gun is different, their number are irrelevant for your gun.

That method of finding the lands is unnecessary and way overkill! It just doesnt matter if you spend hours averaging out a 100 measurements of just kissing the lands or I just jam one up in there a couple of times with a Stoney Pt gauge or split neck method and call it good. Either way, were both going to subtract X from that measurement and use that as our new baseline. The new baseline number is all that matters now, and it doesnt matter if how I found the lands was not as precise as your method and I end up starting .005 or .010 deeper than your 100 times average of just kissing the lands method. Theyre both only starting points. The original base to lands measurement is going to change after 100 rounds anyway, as you shoot the gun, the lands erode. So who cares how precisely you measured it to start with? It doesnt matter!

with some minor seating ladders, I've settled with 1.725" CBTO with Sierra 85gr HP, and by chance the ELDM 123gr came out with the same value... so I'm using that as a baseline for all my loads for the Howa Mini
