Well, I saw this thread and then went and ordered some more 6mm bullets from MidSouth on Tuesday. If they get hacked again, couldnt care less, its part of doing business online. Like I said earlier, its never cost me one cent. I keep several in circulation for when it does happen and they get terminated and t takes a few days to be replaced.
Ive used that specific DC a couple of times since then and their algorithm hasnt shut it down again, so far, so good!

This is one reason I tend to churn credit cards. Find one with a good sign-up come-on, and get it. Use it to until you hit the introductory promotional requirement metric, then get the points or whatever. Then cancel it. In this manner, when your various retailers get hacked, the CC info is already expired usually. And they all eventually get hacked, despite the absurd password requirements they place on their users, their whole data base just gets hacked anyway.
In my experiences this has had zero negative affect on my credit score, despite all the warnings. Just make sure you keep your oldest credit card you have essentially idle - don't cancel that one. That's the one that defines the longevity and stability of your credit history. Otherwise, as long as you're paying your billes it doesn't matter at all, has been my experience.
I churn through at least 5 cards a year, and make a decent amount of play money doing it.

I have a credit card separate from my bank that I use for online purchases only.
The few times Ive had to deal with fraud charges it never cost me a dime, just had to cancel card and get a new one.
NEVER use a debit card, way harder to get your money back.
