I don't know how they require you to have a tax stamp for a pistol. Don't know if the feds even have a pistol stamp. I'm relatively new to this though, honestly, and I could - probably -be wrong. Is it possible that the person you talked to was ignorant of the actual law? How do you even get one? Do they force you to have an SBR stamp?

You need a Form 1 or Form 4 to do an SBR in LA, just like any other State that allows it.

I'm unaware of any such requirements for a pistol. A pistol is a pistol, and therefore can be made, transferred, sold, or gifted like any other pistol.

That's the beauty of pistols. They are still Title I firearms, not Title II. Title II firearms like SBRs, Machine-guns, AOWs, and DDs require ATF Form approval and issuance of a Tax stamp. The only thing below that required a stamp and Form 4 approval was my Suppressor.

From his other post, he's not making a pistol. He's sharing a lower from his other rifle that is currently assembled as a rifle therefore that lower cannot be made into a pistol without a tax stamp which would actually make it an sbr.

I think he has an idea, and want's to accomplish it as light weight as possible. He's been counseled locally that putting a short barrel on top of his existing lower requires a stamp, which is correct. He doesn't want to build another lower. So, he's limited on his options. It looks like he's already partially committed by having the brake in hand. Now, any 11-12 inch barrel after pinning and welding will make it legal, and he's right it's probably lighter than another 5" of barrel.

If it were me, I'd be looking at the BAH, Faxon GB, or the 11" AA. The new GM group buy barrels look good too, but there aren't any results from their shop yet to give advice on.

More power to him, he's made a plan, and should carry it out.

Have you had a chance to shoot it yet? I’m thinking about picking one up to abuse with Wolf steel cased ammo. Would love to hear how it shoots.

I received my upper from PSA this afternoon. It's on a PSA lower. It has a 1-8x Vortex Strike Eagle, American Defense QD mount, CMC flat trigger and a BCM ambidextrous charging handle.

You can use a web hosting site like Flickr, Imgur and several other sites or directly upload from your device. Uploading directly from your computer, phone, tablet requires a smaller file size or image. Basically you put a link (BBCode) into your text from the photo web hosting site

How to post pictures
1. Go to the lower right corner of the "Quick Reply" section and click on the "Go Advanced" box.

2. In the next screen, below the "Your Message" section and in the "Additional Options" section click the "Manage Attachments" box.

3. In the new window that opens up click the "Add Files" box, and when that pops up another little window click the "Select Files" box. Go find the file(s) on your computer, click on them, and choose "Open." You should see your file(s) in the little window so click "Upload Files."

4. This brings you back to the main File Upload Manager window, and your file(s) should appear down in the Attachments area. Click "Done."

5. This brings you back to the "Additional Options" section and you should see your image file(s) under the "Manage Attachments" box. You can now either "Submit Reply" or "Preview Post."

Note: Make sure your picture is a standard picture file format is not sized too big.

Thanks for the directions for posting pics. I tried resizing the pic I took and it was still too large. Would zooming out more on the photo make it more likely to upload?

I open pictures with "paint". Click "resize", check the box that says "pixels", change the largest number to "1500" and save.
