Was finally able to get out and do one final test with the Upper.
5 factory rounds
5 reloads at the original should bump at 1.216
5 reloads at the longer length that came up at 1.219.
All rounds ended up with those rings around the shoulder and a fired CL of 1.225+/-. I have no clue why my fired CL grew .007 from new, and why the apparent reamer gouges started showing up in the fired brass.
I've Contacted Mark at PF last week both prior to testing (conversation bouncing back and forth about how to proceed) and after the testing but have not heard back from him yet. Hopefully just busy and has not had time to respond to emails or PMs on this site.

I think that this upper is just cursed. 6 months to completion on a quoted 14 week lead time, gas ring (coil type) failed in +/- 300 rounds, canted gas block getting contact with the handguard, chamber issues show up out of nowhere...Darn thing shoots great though.

This is the first Bartlein barrel I have read about having a problem. Based on numbers of posts there may be a 10:1::BCA:Bartlein barrel problem ratio.
I don't know if people are reluctant to talk about a $400 vs a $100 barrel. Maybe. Spending 4X more may get you more than 4X the reliability.

I have the opposite problem. I want to build a suppressed 12"er but the BCA's shoot so good(as good as me, lol) I'm afraid if I spend 300+ on a barrel I will be disappointed because it(I) won't shoot any better....

I don't think I put 50 rounds through Bart in 2018, 15 of them in October for proof brass for Mark @PF when it gets sent back.
I ceased firing when I noticed the rings on my cases. It was my primary rifle at the Sporting Rifle Match. Good thing I tripped over Lilly (24" Lilja) and Sandy (Howa from a member here) in January.

As a business owner myself I will say. The holiday season just ended. Routines will get back to normal, but keep in mind Shot Show is coming and they must prepare for that.

As far as I know I have satisfied everyone of my customers for 8 years. In my mind I have Not achieved my goal on one single job.
My point is, as hard as I try perfection isn’t going to happen. That doesn’t change my goal. However, if my customers don’t let me know there is a problem, what am I supposed to do? If a customer “ponders “ why should I have a sense of urgency?
I absolutely hate forums and social media when the customer rushes out to start a thread or fb post without ever having contacted the vendor. People are more concerned with their post count than anything.
Ok, my defense of small business over.
Also, I have one complete custom gun built by PF, one upper I bought from a member and several parts purchased from PF.
My experiences have been all good!

So you are saying that his offer to replace a barrel under warranty in August should now be on a back burner or null and void because I waited until Oct 22 to finalize my decision, which I might add due to work (live in Colorado, working a job in Nebraska - required to travel for work) and the desire to do one additional test to make damn sure it was not a problem on my end (also requires me to be home)?

Every vendor has a project where it seems nothing goes right. Outsourced part delays, staff issues, equipment failures...it happens. An upper ordered in Jan of 17 on a posted lead time of 10-12 weeks then verbally stated closer to 14 weeks because of Shot Show...which turned into 26 weeks before I had it...with issues upon arrival (not the chamber).
I may be on his shit list. PF has a stellar reputation for quality product, I am probably one of those where nothing went right. I gave PF the benefit of the doubt because of that reputation, surely the problem must be on the end user having done something wrong.
Sometimes it's just better to walk away, and I was prepared to do that with this $1800 upper. Strip it for parts, or rebarrell.

Sticks: You are not on my Shit List because I don't have a Shit list. You ordered the barrel replacement Oct 30. Standard lead times are 3 months. I will have your barrel shipped this week yet ahead of schedule. I didn't make it a absolute priority due to you stating you have a working unit. I'm replacing it even without seeing the old barrel back. Had I know you wanted it prioritized I would have done so. Winter Time Most people are in a hurry. Our last communication was on Oct 30. I dont mind people emailing for status updates.
Keep in mind Large Shops have multiple Machines and can switch to another machine when one goes down. Mine is not a large shop.
