I always carry survival kit on me, mostly in my clothing for the small items. That was SOP for us in units that had mission profiles focused on operating far away from large logistics footprints, and well behind enemy lines.

The sleeve pockets played a big role in that for me and still do. I keep an MRE accessory pack, which has matches, TP, wet wipe, salt, sugar, and other items packaged in sealed plastic. I also have 2 lighters, pocket knife, multitool, aviator's signal panel, 550 cord, and my Woobie (Poncho Liner).

I don't carry a basic load when hunting, and fill the ammo pouches with candy bars/energy bars, radio, and sunglasses.

We are on the same page. Before my first trip to New Mexico mountains, I read everything I could on mountain hunting and survival requirements. The first day out, I had a backpack, hatchet, Model 29 S&W with ammo, etc, etc. The next day the pistol was gone, the backpack was gone, and my sweatshirt was packed full of the necessities you list.

Like this? I will also add that any of the hemostatic agents need to be administered by someone with training. There is no replacement for direct pressure and fundamental wound management skills. I never had problems with cravats, Curlex, and Ace wrap on multiple GSW, traumatic amputations, and blast injuries with multiple perforations and penetrations, but that was before these types of products came out.

The first iterations of Quick Clot caused more harm in some cases, including to the person providing care, so make sure that if you are incorporating Quick Clot into your IFAK, it is the current 3rd Generation gauze, not the old versions. There are a few good trainers out there providing TCCC, so if you don't have medical training, I would look to them, preferably guys with 18D/SOCM/SFMS backgrounds.

Might I suggest adding a medic cross or some other type of designation on the outside of your medic pouch(es). I don't want to have to search through all your pouches if I'm trying to patch up your bullet hole.

They have pile tape chit squares on the outside. That's the first thing I sew on of all the components actually.

Hemostatic gauzes have come a long way. I remember having my hands "warmed" by the Quick Clot powder. Keep in mind there are very few replacements for a hemostatic agent when wounds are anatomically unamendable. This is coming from a EMT-Tactical certified TCCC instructor, Combat Lifesaver Instructor, Combat Medic with 3 tours and 16 years of experience. I like the pouches and will recommend anyone using chest seals with one-way valves to also have some medical tape handy. The valves have been know to fail when the seal was folded along the line of valves and the tape keeps them from allowing air back into the pleural space.

Perhaps the plastic clips could be red instead of brown. Others would be able to quickly identify this pouch as an IFAK.

In SOMTB, we used prep'd chest seals with tape on plastic binder covers that we had attached to the inside of the old M-5 bags.

We used the occlusive dressings, but many different products have emerged since then that are better.

There is pile tape for any kind of chit marking you want to place on these.

Leica LRF pouch, fully padded, lined, bartacked stress points and corners, double and quadruple-stitched. Over-built to prevent damage to high dollar LRF or sensitive gear. Still very lightweight using 500D Cordura outer layer.

What would one of those for my Kilo 2000 run?

I have a pouch for the Sig Kilo 2000 already, with battery retention and tie-down as well. Also fits PVS-14s with Rhino mount, separated from each other by the foam divider, which is removable.

$65 for the small utility pouch (mini LRF/PVS-14s/Kestrel plus mini binos). All US materials, all US design and construction.
