They are looking at changing the laws here in Fl and allowing students to carry on campus. I'm pretty sure it's still before the legislature. However, I also think they have to be 21 years old, IIRC. Again, don't quote me on that.

On a brighter note, I guess I'll get to use her Walther 380 while she is away.
I hear your concern since my daughter is going to college next year for the first time. She has trained extensively in the martial arts since the age of five and is a solid B shooter in USPSA. Her best attribute is her maturity and has friends of like qualities. College age students are not all made the same but like citizens these days seem to be treated by the lowest common denominator. Not very progressive is it?

Residents here are treated as if they have the mental capacity of a two-year-old, even if their brains are still fully functional. Can't have things like cigarette lighters or sharp-pointed scissors. Knives of any type are also prohibited, even butter knives. The staff would probably shit bricks if a gun were brought into the facility.

Just an FYI for you folks planning on visiting the sunshine state of FL. Disney World, Universal Studios, and Sea World are all adding metal detectors and will be checking for weapons per the local news yesterday. They are now officially Gun Spree Zones. Before, it was they had signs saying no weapons, and if your gun was accidently imprinted or exposed, they asked you to leave and as long as you complied, no harm no foul. If you didn't comply, you could be charged with armed trespassing. The same as any other business in the state of Fl.
I guess the NFL games, NHL games, and some other major sporting events probably have metal detectors also.

Disney is a special case. It has been mentioned by name (along with the World Trade Center) as a desirable target by Al Quada. It was one of the last places I know of that the Air Force stopped flying CAP over. It is a legal entity and has it's own armed police force. It has tunnels that were built as bomb shelters (because McCoy was so close) back in the day by old Walt.
Still its wall to wall people with millions of screaming kids. A perfect and soft target. I used to carry whenever I went in. I probably will never go in again while the park is open to the public.
And just to tease you CC, during spring turkey season the grounds are covered by strutting Oceloa turkeys!
