Essentially a short RUM case, legitimising the AccelRel cartridge case. Make a good 7mm or 30 cal, too much for a 6.5mm IMHO.

I don't see it as over inflated, my 6.5 STW will produce those same numbers but with a longer and narrower case. I think the 26 Nosler will do it too. The game that I've shot with the 6.5 STW don't know the numbers but they do know they were overwhelmed with destructive force.

There has been another thread about it. It sure sounds like a wonderful round, especially using that H 1000 powder. Hard to beat having a weapon that shoots that flat to 400.

If you go on their website and look at their comparison charts. They say that the 260's MV is like 2400 fps, and te 6.5 Creedmoore MV is like 2220 fps.
Their marketing is full of lies.

My post from another forum: They are saying that the .260 MV is 2262 with a 130 grain pill... Laughable. They are saying the 6.5 CM MV is 2021 with a 140 grain pill.. Really? REALLY? OK,, wait for it.... wait for it... They (Nosler) is claiming the 6.5-284 is rocking a MV of 2427 with a 130 bullet... COME ON.. This is terrible...

I'm looking at their PDF comparison right now, and it lists the following:
.260 Remington 130gr AB 2800fps mv
6.5-284 Norma 130gr AB 2900fps mv
6.5 CM 140gr BT 2550fps mv
You were looking at the energy chart I think, as your numbers match up exactly with that one, not mv. Easy mistake, no biggie.

Could have been, I snagged that PDF while SHOT was still going. Either way, it's most likely a great hunting cartridge with barrel life similar to a 243AI.
Not for shooting long strings.
An apples to apples comparison would be great though. 140 grain pills in each 6.5 cartridge at least. For instance, my 6.5 CM will run 140's at 2800+ with factory match ammunition.

They still say that the 26 nosler retains more velocity at 400 yards than a .260 Rem at the muzzle and then immediately contradict themselves on the PDF showing velocities.

All new cartridges "pad the stats" I'm sure that the numbers will show some normalizing after more independent sources have loaded them. The 6.5 market is getting so crowded that its starting to look like the 30cal bracket. I thought that the point of the Creedmoor was to consolidate the 6.5 bullet... it seems to have sparked more cartridges and further muddied the waters. I'm thinking everyone needs to line up behind one and stick to it. I'm in on GRENDEL for AR actions and stuck between the 260 REM and Creedmoor for the bolt action rifles.

I went 6.5 CM route for the bolt gun.. Between the .260 and 6.5 CM, good off the shelf match ammo is available for the 6.5, and Lapua makes .260 brass... I went the flavor of the month route with the 6.5 CM since it was a purpose built LR round, and its case design leads one to believe that the CM is a bit more efficient.

It seems that the Creedmoor is a flop outside the US as it is a direct competitor to the 6.5x47 Lapua which is a) older, and b) identical but for the better quality brass available.
To be honest there is little practical difference between the 260, the 6.5 Creedmoor and the 6.5x47 Lapua when housed in a Rem700 Short action with standard magazine length. Their usable capacity is within a grain or two of water and only their capacity to handle pressure makes any noticeable difference. My personal experience between the 6.5 Lap and the 260 is that even with 140gn match bullets there is SFA between them, to get a real difference you must up-size the case to the 284/'06 or SAUM/WSM case.
