Got it today. UPS out here has had some major problems so it is late, but here.
I had wanted the OD stock but my dealer said all they had to ship was black so I took that. But when it came out of the box it WAS the OD model.
Started the break-in today, after installing Burris illuminated 1.5-6x42 FourX ?scope in Burris ?tactical? rings. Surprised to find it weighs 8.18# unloaded and w/o the magazine. Doesn?t feel that heavy.
Heavy barrel is set into stock slightly off-center so that it is touching on the left front. I?ll see if removing and reinstalling the stock will correct this w/o opening up that side a bit.
Haven?t measured the trigger but seems quite good. No creep and very crisp. I?ll be surprised if it goes a full 3#.
Windy and cold so only did 5 shots today, cleaning between each. Warmer tomorrow so I may get further. I?m not rushing things.
This is my first Grendel. I?m looking forward to the adventure AND... I have a week left of antlerless.

I had the same issue with my barrel channel. I pulled the action cleaned it up with some sandpaper and held it to center as I torqued the action back to specs. Definitely helped although I’m not completely satisfied, may be a B&C in my future. Good luck

I glass bedded my HB Howa.The barrelled action fits on center like a glove and shoots tiny groups.Easy to do.

Never seen a Howa Mauser action.Only Mauser actions I know of would be a CZ 550 and a Remington 798.

Not sure when Howa started making the minis. Guessing 2016 but I hope someone with more knowledge will chime in.
Worked on The Break-In today. Going slowly and enjoying it. My range bench is right outside to the door to the gun shack. The 25 and 50Y ranges are sheltered by trees but the 100 and 200 and beyond ranges are out in the open and exposed to what can be a pretty stiff wind. Usually when working up loads I use the 50Y range, as I am doing with the Howa. I am following a modified break-in and it's going well. So far have fired only 18 rounds. Best so far (at 50Y) is a .221 three-shot group. The 'scope (a 1.5-6x42) will not lend itself very well to precise 100/200Y work and when it comes to that I will mount a 25x Leupold target 'scope that will give me much more precise info.
Out of the box the trigger measured 2-pounds 10-ounces. Crisp and creepless I doubt I will have to do anything to it for what I will be using the rifle for.
It does not really need it, but I installed a brake today. Makes a difference, but hard for me to tell exactly how much of a difference. This is an extremely gentle, sweet-shooting rifle. But I guess everybody already knew that.

Lol we was just busting your chops a lil bit. Howa doesnt make a mauser action. Their mini action is more of a scaled down model 700 action then a mauser action.

I just purchased the same rifle from my local shop and have the same issue with the barrel just barely touching the stock in the left side. I?m waiting for the DIP bottom metal to arrive and I?ll try to center it more and torque it down then. I plan on bedding the action into a Boyd?s stock within the next couple of months so I?m not too worried about it, but if I wasn?t I would bed it in the original stock or put it in a B&C stock.
Other than that the barreled action itself seems to be good quality and I can?t wait to get it out to the range to compare it to my Grendel AR.

We still have a few days of our antlerless season to go, but the only ammo I had on hand for the Grendel was all match stuff so I ordered in some hunting bullets. They arrived today. 129gr Hornady SSTs. Worked up a load using Benchmark. 26.5 at a COAL of 2.30 developing 2360FPS. The red/green one is 50Y using the same ?scope setting as the target loads. It is .106?. One slightly oval hole. The square was at 100Y using same ?scope setting. My bad, I threw the high one. Would have been about 1/2? if I hadn?t. The gun has less than 30 rounds thru it so far.

Nice looking rig. Love mine, such a easy handling rifle. How is the Burris 1.5-6x42 working out? I picked one up and put it on 24? 6.5 G AR thinking it would be good for yotes and pigs and general fun shooting. Only shot a a few rounds to zero and like the clear glass but need to get used to the lower range. It may work better on my Howa.Mini.

I wanted a close-to mid-range scope that would perform in all kinds of light. Thus the illumination. At 100Y and beyond it would be nice to have more magnification, but considering what I wanted the rifle to do it is working very well. The dot takes some getting used to but I was surprised by how useful it is at 100Y. So far so good.

Exactly same for me. Heard good things about it from guys who predator call a good bit. I have a Burris Fullfield with illuminated reticle that I like a lot but hardly use the illumination. Glass is better in the 4X so hopefully will see some lowlight use on the local vermin.

Am I wrong? Is there more than one candidate product for improved bottom metal on the Howa 6.5? I tried to find a polite word for it, but the only one that really fits the factory set-up is "stupid." No way to carry, or even handle, the thing without the mag falling out— as I am far from the only one to find out. Who could possibly design such a failure? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

DIP makes a aftermarket bottom metal and mag release and that with the cut down mag mod.
There is 2 people now selling hinged floor plate setups.
Hokiepokiekid is also working on a detachable flush fit mag.
