Primary Arms Customer Service - bj139 - 10-03-2018 I purchased a BCA barrel from Primary Arms at the end of May. It shot all over the paper when I tried it recently. When I cleaned it with JB paste and used a magnifier I could see gouges in the rifling near the muzzle. It is not surprising it shot poorly. I filled out the online return form for Primary Arms and heard nothing so I called. The said they could do nothing and I would have to contact BCA. Talk about customer service. I cannot believe Primary Arms would not stand behind a product they sell. I called BCA and they told me to fill out their warranty form and send the invoice and I could send it for replacement. I had heard such good things about Primary Arms that I am quite disappointed in their response. Primary Arms Customer Service - Popeye212 - 10-03-2018 That doesn't normal to me for Primary Arms sorry to hear that. Primary Arms Customer Service - A5BLASTER - 10-03-2018 Might be they have had their fill of warranting and replacing the junk that bca seems to have turned out in 6.5 grendel. Never know, I also have heard nothing but good things about their customer service, seems it's more and more lately more company's don't have good customer service. Hope it works out good for you sir. Primary Arms Customer Service - 1Shot - 10-03-2018 "Might be they have had their fill of warranting and replacing the junk that bca seems to have turned out in 6.5 grendel." It was BCA workmanship not Primary Arms fault that the barrel was junk so it was BCA that is responsible to warranty it. Unless it is explicitly stated by the distributor that they will replace a defective product it is always the manufactures responsibility to honor the warranty and fix or replace. You just learned a valuable lesson like I did. NO MORE BCA ANYTHING. I had to send a complete upper back to replace the junk barrel after wasting over a hundred dollars in ammo and gas running back and forth to the range trying to get the thing to shoot better than 5" groups. Then after around 60 rounds down the new barrel it finally started to group consistently without throwing a flier. Will shoot just under MOA with certain hand loads now. Primary Arms Customer Service - Popeye212 - 10-03-2018 Leaning more to what A5 said. Primary Arms Customer Service - bj139 - 10-03-2018 I knew about BCA since they replaced a barrel for me before. I was just surprised at Primary Arms. They should stop selling BCA if they are not willing to stand behind the products they sell. I don't blame you, that is what I was meaning, I always heard Primary arms had good customer service. Primary Arms Customer Service - Keef - 10-03-2018 My BCA complete upper and my BCA bare barrel both shoot great. I don't understand the level of hate they get on this site...we are lot more forgiving of 400 dollar barrels that don't shoot well. If you have a long drive to the range maybe don't get one, if you can shoot out your back door like me, maybe do get one. If I ever decide to do a 24"er I'll give them another try. Primary Arms Customer Service - bj139 - 10-03-2018 I just got an email from Primary Arms askng for a picture. They said they could get me in touch with BCA, which I already did. Here is a picture of the muzzle end of the barrel. This shot about 4 to 5 inch groups at 50 yards.

The number of 400 dollar barrels that shot half as bad as some of the groups I have seen bca produce is microsopic. Me personally I would act the same or worse if I spent 400 or more on a barrel and it shot have as bad as what I have seen bca barrels do. As far as me I can shoot off the porch just outside the back door, and I even tryed one of their barrels and it was so short throat there was no factory ammo I could use in it. You got two good ones that great and I would be happy to share a shooting bench with you any day, but the bottom line is there is no excuse for the number level of defective products bca produces in the grendel. With the quality of the group buy barrels we get on this fourm I would have no problem sujesting to someone to bypass bca products, they simple are not producing worth while products it's that simple. Three in a row from BCA that had throats too short to accept factory ammo and the fourth would not shoot less than 5" groups. That was enough for me to swear off BCA forever. Primary Arms Customer Service - Lantern - 10-03-2018 Most companies that I deal with refer me to the manufacturer unless they are a massive company with enough stock to simply send another and enough pull to force the manufacturer to credit them in full or face them being dropped as a supplier. I see this as a BCA thing more than Primary Arms. Primary Arms Customer Service - Keef - 10-03-2018 ported45 Wrote:Bingo. What factory ammo did you try? Quoted from BFT "In my opinion, both Hornady American Gunner and SST will sometimes stick in the chamber a bit — even on a correctly reamed barrel. Their ogives are just fat enough to stick in the "kiss" of the first angle of the compound throat. Lifting the barrel off the table three inches and then thumping it down should provide enough inertia to drop them out without pulling the bullet. But this is different from a bullet being really STUCK in the throat. Bill Alexander said the first angle — one-half degree before it hits the second angle of 1.5 degrees — adds about 600-1000 psi, but is nothing to worry about. It's factored into the design of the cartridge." It looks like some metal chips may have got stuck on the button when it was rifled. The rifling is twisted. I think it is the angle making it look straight. Primary Arms Customer Service - ported45 - 10-04-2018 Keef Wrote:What factory ammo did you try? Quoted from BFT Some place called Alexander Arms loads a Nosler 120 BT available at MidwayUSA and I also tried the Hornady Black. Neither one would even come close to being in battery on the first three barrels.Like a fool I used the forward assist on the first one and it stuck the bullet into the rifling and pulled the bullet when I mortared the rifle to get the round out. The result was powder everywhere and a bullet that needed driven out of the throat. I used a cut piece of brass to then check the max OAL and it was a bit short. The next two barrels were ridiculously short (I checked OAL length before trying to chamber any ammo). I actually tried to handload for the third one and could turn out just a bit over 2" groups, but I wanted a barrel that would accept factory ammo if I were ever to sell it. The last barrel would take an OAL of 2.300" (if I remember right) with the Nosler 120 BT, but groups were never better than 5". At that point, I threw in the towel! If I had this problem I would fully expect to have to deal with BCA. The only thing I'd expect PA to deal with would be something that was damaged in shipping or maybe something with an obvious defect right out of the box. Either way I hope the issue gets resolved. Good luck. Primary Arms Customer Service - bj139 - 10-05-2018 I sent the barrel to BCA today. I'm sure they will send me a better one. Primary Arms Customer Service - joedirt199 - 10-06-2018 Should change the title to reflect bca issues. Primary arms is an industry leader in customer service. Ordered one of their micro red dots and the emitter was sticking up more than I liked. Called them and they sent a return label and traded it out for a newer model with lower emitter no questions asked. Have always had fast and easy service when ordering from them. They show love to military and law enforcement and continue to try and improve on firearm industry products. Then I looked at Brownells return policy. https://www.brownells.com/helpcenter/return-policies/index.htm?id=38#hri I could have returned the barrel to them if I bought it there. I am just relating my first experience with Primary Arms. I listened to how good PA's customer service was and didn't read the details for myself. If someone will read this thread they will see I will probably buy from PA in the future but I now don't think they are the leader in customer service. I am not upset because BCA is taking care of me. |
