Hello from another citizen of Marylandistan

Yep... all yawl guessed it. I am a newbie to the 6.5 Grendel. Took me awhile to get here and a few other caliber builds later... but I made it finally... well, sort of... Just about got all my lower puzzle pieces ordered in and ready to assemble... Need to find a complete upper that has the barrel in stock... Jeesh... never knew they were being made of unobtanium. Anywho... I guess a little about myself would be nice. Been shootin' since I could sit on the bench chair and look through the scope. Wish I could say it's been every year since then... but adulting sucks sometimes. Now that I find myself in the graying years and with this lil' bug of a pandemic going on, spare time doesn't seem to be much of an issue now.. So now that I have more of it... I guess I have become somewhat of a shade tree gun smith. Just tweakin' friends stuff as well as my own... Scratch built some stuff for myself.. and starting messing around with reloadin'. I learned early in life to keep alcohol and firearms separated.. So my beer/wine/ and mead making equipment don't hangout with my reloadin' stuff.... they never played nice together and I try to keep em separated.

Oh, and yes, later tonight I'll actually raise a horn of Mead tonight with yawl.

    Builds:
    (2) 9mm Lugar Glock 17 (the non identical twins)
    (1) M4 AR15 5.56/.223 pistol variant
    (1) DMR AR10 .308 (aka The Beast)

and hopefully soon (1) 6.5 Grendel.

thanks for the heads up... Was looking at a budget build using this

The Sanders Armory 20″ 6.5 Grendel II Match Grade Performance Series 5R Rifling Straight Fluted 416R Stainless Steel Upper Assembly Package includes An AR15 Premium Upper Receiver with Spring-Loaded Dust Cover and Forward Assist, Match Grade 20″ Stainless Steel 416R Medium Contour Stainless Steel Straight Fluted 6.5 Grendel (Type II) Barrel with 1:8 Twist and 5R Rifling. It has a Rifle Length Stainless Steel Gas Tube with .750 Gas Block and 15″ Free Float Slim Line MLOK Handguard. The MPI Tested Mil-Spec 6.5 Grendel Type 2 (.136) Nitride Bolt Carrier includes our custom made 6.5 GII Bolt and Steel Extractor and both are hard Phosphate coated. Phosphate does not compromise strength and heat treating like Black Nitride can which makes Bolts and Extractors prone to breaking. A 5/8×24 Stainless Steel Tapered Fat Comp, and Mil-Spec Standard Charging Handle. Pew Pew Tactical did a 5 Best 6.5 Grendel Uppers (Hands-on) https://www.pewpewtactical.com/best-6-5-grendel-uppers/
Figured I'd give them a try to get everything in house and see what it would do and get some range time. Upgrades most likely to follow would be a Failed Zero NiB 6.5 type II BCG,

based on this on their website, i would not buy from them
Where do you get your barrels and parts from?
We do not disclose where we get our barrels or parts for a couple reasons, the most important being it is proprietary information

the only one on the pew pew list i have seen reviews on was grendel hunter. they review well and use satern liberty barrels iirc

remember the barrel is the #1 place to put your money, and not cheap out on
for budget, look at a criterion

Hello from the Peoples Socialist Republic of Illinois. This is the place for info about the Grendel, ARs in general, and anything shooting.

P.S. I think that Illinois holds the record for the most Govenors in prison at one time, what is Marylandistan's claim to fame?

Where to start... Like the fact we have to pay and pass a proficiency test to obtain a piece of plastic that lets us try to practice our 2A right (Maryland Handgun Qualification License - HQL), and that after 10 years we have to do it all again. That we need to, according to the MD State Police "Have a good and substantial reason to wear, carry, or transport a handgun, such as finding that the permit is necessary as a reasonable precaution against danger." Self protection is not a good and substantial reason.

Tell me about it... I just about scour the internet every day to find something I can use. Things I can't find (or willing to pay double + for) primers, and quality projectiles. Brass I can get most of the time from Capitol Cartridge in Houston TXhttps://www.capitalcartridge.com/default.asp. Powder, depending on manufacturer, I can still get local in limited quantities.

Unfortunately my wife and I do not qualify for a "stimulus" check. My boss did hint at a bonus check. I'll have to see how that pans out.

                        Goals for build:
                        (1) start inexpensive and build upon that. Minute of Man for now, Minute of Angle later. (here come the cringes and comments about "pay now / pay later")
                        (2) the local gun club I belong to, their longest range is 200 yrds.
                        (3) fun.

Is there a "What have you Built, tell us about" it section?

Yes, try the Grendel photo forum. Some guys add a description along with the pictures, others just post pictures.

Sorry about the stimulus check thingy. My wife and I have never qualified for any government freebies. Something about not fitting the profile of low information voters.
