New to the group...beginning my first 6.5 Grendel build

    Hi all,

Just beginning to get all the parts in for my first 6.5 Grendel build. Long time reloader, builder, competitor. Last two AR builds were for PRS and are currently shooting .4moa...trying to get better yet . Really fascinated by the things I've read on 6.5 Grendel BC and long range capabilities so I just had to jump in.

Only bummer is my first part to arrive was my Faxon BCG...arrived not staked at all so back it goes. I'm sure they'll make it right.

    Looking to learn!

Welcome to the vile horde Hazzbro! Kudos on having a pic on your first post here. Sounds like you will fit right in here.
Lots of info here on builds, trouble shooting, etc.
Getting sub .4 moa groups with a 6.5 Grendel will likely be a long time but a fun time pursuit

Welcome to the clan, HB, from the great nation of Texas! At least you are attentive to details! What part of the world are you in and what are your goals?
Whether you get .4 MOA or 4 MOA can depend a lot on your assembly techniques and the quality of the barrel and upper receiver that you start with. Long, long ago, my first group with my first Grendel ( actually a "6.5 Sporter from Model 1 Sales ) measured 3/8". And it got better from there. It is do-able if you do your part.

          Welcome aboard.

If the carrier key is Rocksetted or the fasteners sealed with high-temp thread-locking compound, I would worry about it.

I have the Brownell's staking tool for my own, but haven't used it in a while.

In Indiana, goals are to get the rifle better than me for shooting in club shoots (serious competitors in our club ), PRS shoots, and another platform to feed my OCD reloading tendencies

Any recommendation on components? Seems many are leaning to the 120 ELD's.

            Thanks,

            Hazz

yeah, thought about getting the tool to stake them but decided just to send it back as they are supposed to be done at the factory. Running without staking...maybe but I'm not going to just cause it's easy enough to get it replaced or staked. Not near ready to shoot the gun yet anyway...still getting parts in and then am going to do a desert camo paint job on it.
