Welcome to the forum mighty-mace! No wrong answer when choosing between 18” and 20” 6.5 Grendel. I have a 20” Shilen DCM profile match 6.5 Grendel with plain muzzle and an 18” Faxon Group Buy barrel with an A-2 flash hider. They are both very close to the same overall length. I use my Shilen barrel more for shooting off the bench whereas the 18” makes a great hunting companion and is very versatile. Search the forum there are numerous threads on the difference in velocity between the different barrel lengths.

Welcome aboard. I just got a group buy 18" myself for hunting & some long distance targets. It seemed like a good compromise.

Welcome aboard. Hard to go wrong with either 18" or 20".

I've built a bunch of each over the past 7 years. I focus on the gas system length in that decision-making tree.

With 20", you have RLGS and they are very pleasant to shoot.

18" MLGS are a gassed pretty hard, whereas 18" ILGS and RLGS are more pleasant, but seem to prefer heavier projectiles with slower powder, gas port dependent.

If you go 18" MLGS, make sure the gas port isn't over .076" or it will be gassed really hard.

                      Welcome,
As for 18 vs 20 your intended use usually steers people one way or the other. But since your looking at the group buys with the same profile your talking ounces in weight, couple inches, and around 50fps
