Thanks for the add to the forum. Going to build my first AR (I have an AR but did not build it) in a 6.5 Grendel. Pretty overwhelming when researching as to whats good quality and what's not. Looking to get better educated as I know very little and am eager to learn. Thanks for all the good info that has been posted.

Will use the Grendel mainly for deer hunting along with my Mauser M18 6.5 Creedmoor

Having a hard time deciding which brand of receiver group to buy. Interested in billet but don't like the price. Have done a lot of reading and research and opinions seem to be all over the place as the quality etc of the various manufacturers.
Am I over thinking as to which lower receiver to purchase? Suggestions?


Here's what I'm leaning towards:

Aero 4E1 with matching bolt carrier
Not sure on lower parts kit - are the all the same????
Not sure on the trigger.
18" Faxon Barrel
Not sure on bolt carrier - seem to be all over the place on price?

Welcome to the forum. This is a great and civil place to learn about this great cartridge. Many here excluding myself with vast knowledge of 6.5 Grendel. I have used information gleaned from this forum to begin reloading and built my first AR. Read a lot and use the search feature. The sticky's contain lots of load data.Listen to what the seasoned members tell you repeatedly. They always favor safety in their approach. I am east of Edmond . Good luck in your pursuit. You may want to look at BFT's group buy barrels and bolts. Pretty good bang for the buck.

Hey flyfish, I’m in Edmond. New to the Grendel and still putting mine together.

Well....after gathering a lot of info from this forum I have a Larue UU kit on order as well as a Larue lower. Won't get the experience of a "full build" but I couldn't pass up the deal Larue is offering right now. Looks like it will be 6-8 weeks to get the upper and 3-4 months to get the lower.
