    New Houstonian

    Hey Guys-

I've never owned any AR type rifles, however with my first suppressor (which happens to be a 6.5 can) sitting in NFA jail and just now finding out about this cartridge, I'm leaning heavily towards picking one up. The only question now would be-buy parts and have someone build it OR buy one fully assembled? I'm looking for sub MOA accuracy. Gun will be used primarily for hunting. Any experiences, thoughts or suggestions are much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

You really can't go wrong either way.. if you are somewhat mechanically inclined, there are many many many detailed youtube videos about how to assemble your own, plus many individuals on here with a boat load of knowledge.

Alexander Arms is just about the only company making complete 6.5 Grendel uppers and rifles I would trust. There are other companies, and people have had luck with them, but that's just me.

It's quite easy to get a accurate 6.5 Grendel. Not just because this is the 6.5G forum, but because the design of the cartridge and chamber inherently lend themselves to accuracy (short fat powder column, long neck, high B.C bullets)

Welcome to the forum fellow Texan!

It depends on how much bling you want to put into the AR.

        +1 on an Alexander Arms.

I am selling my Alexander Arms Grendel Overwatch 24". The gun itself does not have any add ons. It does come with a Vortex Viper PST 6x24x50 MOA FFP. Also has a Bipod, 100 rounds of 123 gr Hornady SST's, Alexander Arms Soft case, and Bore snake. I have only shot about 150 rounds through it. Really clean, like new. I am

Thanks Guys. I'll look into Alexander Arms. Are there any other companies/shops I should look into as well? I really appreciate all the input as I wade into this!

Several satisfied forum members who have purchased from Precision Firearms, JP enterprises, Odin Works, Lilja, Core 15, and J&T Distributing(sister company to Double Star). These manufacturers use SAAMI spec chambers but there are several other companies who sell SAAMI or varient chambers like Satern Grendel II, Les Baer LBC 264, Black Whole Weaponry, Anderson has a Grendel 1 and Model 1 Sales has 6.5 Sporter.
