Also wanted to ask what are the favorite hunting (both big game and varmint) rounds? I'm new to the 6.5 and AR world but have been building my own bullets for quite some time. I just loaded my first "Test" recipe-

        Hodgden BL-C(2) 30.2 grains,
        Hornady SST 129 Grain
        Hornady brass
        CCI small rifle mag. primers.

I have had great results with the factory Hornady AMAX and SST 123 grain rounds.

What is the realistic hunting range of this caliber?

I ordered the upper complete from AR15part.com, not sure who made the barrel.

Post some groups, we'd all love to see them. Check out the Grendel Knock Down thread. Without having analyzed it completely, the Hornady 123 gr SST loads seem to be doing pretty well. 129 gr Nosler ABLR are getting a lot of love as well.

Bottom line, you've got a good platform, have fun with it.

The picture is a little hard for me to see, but I think you're going to be OK.

sorry, the original pix had problems loading. (had to shrink it) All 3 touching at the 12 o'clock about 1" high just right of center. I think that will get me close to a 200 yard zero.

This is our brand of barrels. We have these barrels privately manufactured for us just like Rock River Arms and many others do for their parts. They are made to our exact specifications with quality US materials by a reputable US manufacturer to ensure reliability and accuracy. They are 100% Made in the USA and we will only ship in the US and where legal to own. These barrels properly headspaced twice from the manufacturer. Once before installing the barrel extension and again after the barrel extension is properly torqued. Reliable, durable and accurate barrels that will achieve 1” MOA groups or better at 100 yards with US made match grade ammo and properly matched bullet grain weight to barrel twist rate(does not apply to barrels shorter than 16 inches in length).

Great looking rifle. What scope are you using? I am still waiting on AA for my upper. Will be using a vortex 6.5-24x50 scope or the osprey global 6-24x50 (read reviews after I bought the osprey and most were negative). I will mount it and see what if anything is wrong Bought at a gun show in
                      COS .

Originally I had the Vortex Viper HS LR 4-16x50 BDC MOA. I love everything about the scope except for the fact that I put a Nightforce ATACR with the MOAR reticle on my 338 Lapua. The differences between the two is enough to confuse the crap out of me... I have since mounted a Nightforce SHV 5-20X56 with the MOAR reticle and love it. There is nothing wrong with the Vortex, it is just different than what I am used to... You cant beat the Vortex warranty and the customer service is outstanding.

Nice guns you have! Do both of the guns fit in that pelican case?

Unfortunately no, just the .338 Lapua. I need one for the AR's. The one in the pix is the 1770 (one of the bigger cases) I want to get another for the Grendel and maybe a .556 as well, if they will both fit. Has anyone tried to fit 2 AR's in a 1770?
