    Lemonaid's challenge

Using his post on this thread (#61, http://www.65grendel.com/forum/showt...rmal-fun/page4)... I tried it today...

I am slightly disappointed with my score, so listen to my excuses first hah...

Southern Arizona sucks for wind. It will go from dead calm to 15mph full value gusts. I missed two to the right that I blame on the wind. There are two shots in the same hole on the upper right corner, at about 2 o'clock (compare first and last pic and you'll see the hole is diff.)

I handload these, but don't spend much time on precise weighing or brass prep (I don't even track round count on these brass) as it's more "bulk" for me. My load is Hornady brass, Fed. Gold Medal AR primer, 26.9gr IMR8208XBR, 123gr SST. Base to Ogive of 1.656".
There's one that's super high, my 3rd shot, that I blame on a bad round, I know I didn't push it when it broke.

Suppressor started getting hot and the bottom two are probably due to mirage issues I was getting at the end.

My shooting setup.. I had to manually work the bag as it isn't the right height to keep the gun on target.

    1st 5 shots

    Final score

I count a score of 100 with 5 x's. It's hard to tell in the pics, but the one on the left, at approximately 9 o'clock did barely break the line.

    That's some fine shooting!
For some perspective the 10 ring measured 1.615 and the X-ring about .700 on my printout.
I'll give 'er a try Saturday weather permitting. (Just had a 3 inch snow storm at my location.)

Yea I ran it through my range buddy... With all shots counted it's a 1.3" group. If I delete the high one which I know was not my fault, and the two windy ones, it becomes a 0.8" group.

Here is my entry using the RAP.
Shooting this target is harder than I thought it would be but it improved my shooting skills.
            Score is 100 8X

So is this limited to Grendel only? I'm still getting my Grendel together but have my 223.

My take is this is for fun, anything you want to post will be of interest to some one. Pics will add interest along with firearm and ammo used.
A Grendel VS 223 competition to me sounds fun. Game on!

I get the feelin my rifle might have a chance...but I'm the weak link here.

For me it'll be a couple of weeks, work this weekend.

                          Ahhhggg!!!!

Not sure what I did or didn't do...but I choked.
The first Pic are all on me. The circled one I knew I'd pulled. The other 4, I guess I just hurried.

The circle in the second pic are the last group before I made the money shot...that made no money.

However, the siting in of the new scope went very well.

I've written on the targets which was what.

Pic 3 was my last target @ 50 yrds. Pic 4 was siting in with different loads and to show myself
that my home rolled ones are pretty good compared to factory loads.

Just picked up some more CFE223, think I'm gonna have to play around with this. Definitely have to get a chrono.

                          Greg B.

ETA: Not bad for a DPMS and a novice.

Nice pics Mechnic. Looks like you had fun and learned something at the same time!
What scope and what manner of support (bipod or sandbags) did you use? After market trigger?
