850 yards - (shooting for a group.... not at the target specifically...)

    lapua brass
    123 Amax
    28.7 gr RE15
    federal match primer
    2.295 coal

(I think it is, dont have data in front of me)

NOTE: i developed this load before published data was available, and still dont know if published data says RE15 can be used. This is a over max load, it crunches power when seating the bullet!... Reload at your own risk! This load is for my rifle only!! 2592 fps+-

850 yards 1st shot head shot - actually doping it for a precise shot. (Hole in the neck is a actual hole to hang the target.. not a shot)

After another look at that pic you can see the top part of a box i shot with the turrets on the scope too...

No reason to post a 100 yard 5 shot group picture, if youve seen a bullet hole on paper, it one holes just like that...

Sniper, on the original forum, guys were using 29.0-29.5 RL 15, over the 120 class-. But you are getting great accuracy, so why change a good thing?

It would add 100 fps. to the bullet- to up it a grn., but why bother. Good pics on a day well spent outdoors.

Accuracy over velocity any day kills better

Agreed, at range it's all about the accuracy nodes.

Short range hunts that I do= lighter pills and more speeds have been the winner. Good to see a many differences for the horde.

                Nice shooting.

Can you post up your past experiences, over times.. spent at the range? And on military bad guy targets- Thanks.

                      Is that a 2.88" group at 850yds?

                        S338:

I have stuffed 30 plus grains of Varget into a Lapua Grendel case (compressed load) with a 120 Match King and it really got some velocity. I certainly would not advise anyone to do it and I will not shoot that load again. I noticed that when I started compressing this powder via working my way up in the load, that its velocity started taking a very steep rise but I also noticed the primers were a bit flatter and finally saw the ejector mark in the brass at somewhere around 30 1/2 grains or maybe 31 grains of Varget.

If I used 28 grains or 28 1/2 of Varget, the velocities were poor. I think in the 2400 fps range. I seemed to hit that point where things got weird when I could hear the grains crunch when seating the bullet.

I think RL15 is a bit slower but just be advised.

Oh, my. Very tight. Very tight, indeed. I guess when they say everything is bigger in Texas, they aren't referring to group sizes.
If it's true that we are here to help others, then what exactly are the others here for?

haha! I have a bad day here and there, i aint perfect. Reading the wind is still rough sometimes out at longer ranges, thats where im still working on honing skills. I always keep track of my shooting data when i shoot in a binder the range, humidity, temp, altitude, ammo temp, bore temp, direction etc and write it all down, keep track of the angles, mils it took to make that shot, mils it took for the wind... its very valuable info to have for going out shooting at different places... it turns into like a owners manuel for your rifle so long range first round hits are very likely. Each rifle i own has a binder with that particular rifles data and excell sheet info for quick reference charts. Some other rifles i have are still in the data collection phase but this grendel is the furthest along. Thats how i can make some pretty good groups out long range.

it is what you put into it i guess.
