    My first Grendel build...

I have 5 ARs and 2 SR-25s... but the 223 is too little and the 308 is too much. That's why i was so excited about the Grendel and decided to make it the best I could afford.

I first wrestled with the barrel length.... I wanted a rifle that could do a bit of long range work, and yet compact enough so that it could work reasonable well in close quarters. I settled on an 18 Satern fluted as a decent compromise... but i would have probably bought a 16" barrel if i could have found a nice fluted one at the time...

The parts I used are these:

    Vltor A2 flash hider
    Spartan 18” fluted barrel
    AA hardened bolt.
    Young manufacturing bolt carrier.
Vltor low profile stainless gas block.
    Vltor MUR upper.
TROY mid length rail hand guard.
Magpul MBUS sights ( front and rear ).
    Alexander Arms lower receiver.
    DPMS lower parts kit.
    AR gold trigger
    Vltor buffer tube sling adapter.
Command Arms modular pistol grip system.
Spikes tactical heavy carbine buffer ( this is a great buy )!!!
    Stock carbine buffer spring.
    Mag Pul CTR stock.
    Unknown brand of buffer tube.
unknown brand bolt carrier group parts and fireing pin.

    Optics are:
    Acog
    Eotech 512

    Then,
    Grendel C product mags.
    UTG 150 lumen LED light
    Knights manufacturing rail cover.
    Knights rail mounted grip.

Clean that barrel well, and run some good bullets through it. The 123gr SP's are lucky to shoot 2-3 MOA. I pulled most of mine for the brass, but I have no real use for the brass since I have plenty of Lapua brass.

Use hornady 123's if you want to achieve some nice sub moa results.

Thanks. I am thinking seriously about building two more, one long and one short barreled. The long barreled would be a sniper version with the fancy Magpul butt stock that is fully adjustable... , the short, an M4 clone. For now i want to focus on enjoying this one with some REAL AMMO, not the wolf crap i currently have around and see what i get. Also never had an Eotech... so that will be cool too.

Now if only some hogs would wander over again.... ha ha !

Well, if you REALLY want to knock the hogs over, you need one of these!

Naw, use the right bullets and its just "bang, FLOP". No more meat damage than the Grendel. And heck, it can't hurt more meat than 12 or 15 .223's!!!!

                            Here's a great short article:

Well on the day the hogs showed up i wasnt hunting.... otherwise i would have had the right ammo and all. I wad just responding to a potential threat to my grandkids and property. To make matters worse, i had just come home from being with my wife all day in the hospital, so i was in no mood to salvage the meat. I just called some friends who hauled the hogs off. They bbqed the small ones....
