8pt.jpgI got this 8pt last Saturday in south AL. I didn't have time to work up my hunting loads so I was using the factory 123g SST. He was 145 yards and quartering away. He was crossing an old logging road down a hill(Alabama hill lol). The shot entered right behind his left shoulder and exited out the front of his right shoulder. He ran about 100 yards but Ray Charles could have followed the blood trail. I was happy with the effect of the bullet and there was a lot of internal damage. I've always hunted with Rem 700s in 30-06, .308 or .243 but considering my Grendel is more accurate and recoils less, it gets my vote.

Good one!
Im gonna have to get back on a bama lease. I use to hunt near Grove Hill but gave up my spot when i started my own business. The pics my buddies have been sending me make me ill!
The rut in bama is an unbelievable time.Knowing everthing isnt as important as knowing where to find it.

The barrel is a 20" BHW bull barrel. I'm not sure on the velocity. I'm supposed to go to work tonight for 28 days(if the ice goes away!) But when I get back I'll put the 123 Amax and SST on the chrono. All my other Grendel shooting was with a 16" and handloads, but I just finished this build and had to try it out. I had some factory Amax and SST ammo so I decided to go with it rather than spending a few hunting days working loads.
Yeah the deer have been moving like crazy. You can pretty much walk in the woods and climb any tree and see deer.
