Stepped out on my back porch last night and there were hogs and deer everywhere, or so it looked like. Less than 100 yards from my back door. There was about 15 to 20 of each happily grazing/rooting together. I've seen them "sharing" the same pasture before, but never so intermingled. We have a super bright security light(that I hate, but my wife likes), and there was a bright moon. There is a field wire fence that I'm sure I would have hit one the wires if I had tried to shoot through it. The deer spooked and ran, and a couple of the hogs got nervous as I was trying to sneek to the fence for a clear shot. I'm too old and stiff to crawl, and I probably couldn't get up IF I got where I needed to be. But they settled down and went back to rooting. I only got the first one I shot at, and it turned out to be a boar. I wasted 4 rounds on the runners. I was resting the rifle on the barbed wire, and it wasn't the ideal setup for quick "target acquisition".
The POI was left shoulder, a couple pieces of the 123 SST exited out the right shoulder. Broke both shoulders. Hog went down, and never moved a muscle. Heart must have stopped instantly as there was almost no bleeding at all.
Good huntin to yall, hope you kill more than I do.
