Just checked my hunting load

Just checked my hunting loads over my Shooting Crony for velocity.
Gas gun:
16" Group Buy barrel
All the rest is BCM from the receiver down
Larue trigger

Load:
28.8 g PPV CCI 450 primer and Hornady new brass with a Sierra 120g Pro Hunter bullet

10 ft from the muzzle, 5 shot string from a cold bore.

1: 2302
2: 2324
3: 2323
4: 2319

ES 22
SD 8

This will group under 1 inch at 100 yds. and seems to match Sierra which uses a 24' Barrel

I do feel the Sierra Manual is a bit conservative in their Grendel loads but this is an excellent hunting load for west Tennessee where at my place a 100 yd shot is rare and 35 to 50 yds more the norm.

I left out by mistake shot number 5 at 2322fps for a total of 5 shot string.....MY powder scale a RCBS 1500 is pretty close to 28.8 with velocities this close in order.

That seems low for the bullet weight and barrel length.


What range will be your max and have you tried it out that far?
