More Maker Bullets REX from Druid Hill Armory on Hogs

We have been having storms move through north Texas, but a landowner called with a hog problem and so I told the landowner I would be out the next evening it wasn't raining. Two nights later, a band of rain was passing through and it looked like I would have about a 3 hour window to hunt. Storms don't punch a time card and the rain ceased about 30 minutes before I arrived, but another cell had developed just south of me. Hogs were already out and about when I arrived. I figured I had at least an hour, maybe 90 minutes, but I was wrong.

Shot 2 hogs just 7 minutes apart. Did not have time to make it to the first hog (across the creek) and my necropsy on the 2nd hog was cut short by the start of rain and a goodly amount of lightning...

thanks for sharing the vid. i hope you get feeling better soon. looks like you have yet to recover a full 110gr. REX bullet, is that correct?

tdbru, the docs got my heart rhythm back in line after 2 procedures - plumbing and muscle were good, but the electrical aspect was wonky. Technically, I am still in recovery, but yeah, doing much better. I think it has helped my shooting as well.

Still no complete bullets recovered. I am really thinking that the petals are just too long for how fast the bullet is moving. They peel way back and then snap. This is perfectly fine in the sense that some manufacturers claim this is a good thing, the petals coming off and scything their own wound channels, which is at least partially true in that they will create their own wound channel if they leave the bullet's main wound channel. However, I was expending them to stay together like the 85 gr. TREX version Pig Popper TX (Hunt TXhogs) tested.

Monday was a good night with 9 hogs down. Things started a little slow and my timing was a bit off, but that settled out quite nicely.

Nope, no magic bullets. The best you can do is to find a bullet that does what you want it to do and that does it on a consistent basis.
