    Hog down last night

I mistakenly posted this on another thread instead of starting a new one. Here it is:

Went out last night and found a sow with at least a dozen piglets right in the midst of about 40 deer 400 to 500 yds away, thru mesquite saplings , and cactus, and bull nettle etc. Fortunately she wandered off a ways from the piglets and deer, but was headed for a brushy wooded area. Got to within 100 yds. Knelt to try to get steady, lined up the shot, and then, just as I got on target my foot slipped in the soft sand and BOOM....before I was ready. As I regained my posture, I looked and she was laying there kicking !!! I looked up to the sky and silently said, Good shot LORD , Thank you . Took a couple of wild shots at the tiny piglets as they were running off, but didn't hit anything but sand. I had to put two more rounds to the head before the sow stopped breathing, so all the trauma was in/around the head. The pics aren't too good but I put'em in anyhow. She was big and fat, was either full of milk, or another batch of pigs.

No, it's a 90 model Isuzu trooper. I was really looking for a samurai, but couldn't find one some 19 yrs ago when I bought this trooper. No regrets, it has been a real trooper. I'ts more of a work truck. I carry all my fence patching tools etc in the back out of the weather. It's like me and most of the other things here on the ranch,,, Tired, Rusty, and Wore Slap out, but we're having fun and hanging in there. Thanks for your "hunting reports". I always enjoy seeing how other folks hunt.
              Keep up the good work.

I always wanted one of those samurais, they are pretty hard to find here in south LA. My brother in law found a Diahatsu rocky, which is very similar. its a great little ranch vehicle. I also enjoy reading about your hunting adventures. I'm heading out to the deer lease tonight to do some hunting, wish me luck. keep up the good work.
