South Texas Pig Hunt

Went down to Hondo, Texas to try our luck on some hogs and boy did we find some! Our group of 4 hit 11 and recovered 9 over 4 nights of hunting! My Grendel impressed everyone there. At the range the guys weren?t sure what to think of such a ?little cartridge? but after I stacked up 4 kills with it there was no doubt the 90 grain TNT?s and the Grendel were up to the task!
I think I have 3-4 more people that?ll be joining the Grendel horde shortly!

CJW, it?s a PSA upper with an 18? stainless barrel on an Anderson lower with a PSA 2 stage trigger. On this trip I was using the Federal, American Eagle ammo. I haven?t had time to get my reloading bench back up and running after a recent move but I hope to be back to rolling my own shortly!
The scope is a Night Owl, Night Shot from Amazon. It?s a low buck night vision scope that actually works very well!

Congrats on the hogs, looks like some good eating size hogs. Did Double Naught Spy"s youtube videos ifluence your ammo choice? he has has success with that bullet on hogs.

Yes! DNS?s tireless efforts persuaded my ammo choice. (Thanks DNS for your efforts!) I wouldn?t have ever considered the TNT for medium game but after watching his hunts on YouTube it?s pretty hard to argue the with the results!

Thanks, 06, I am flattered. I am glad it works well for you. 4 our of 11 hogs sounds like you got more than your share. What were the calibers the other guys were using?

I actually don't mind the skunks, but strangely, TNT, a varmint round, does not seem as suited to them as V-Max. SST doesn't seem to be a great skunk round either. I think both are just mostly poking holes through them, but I am too scared to tried doing a thorough examination.

Two of the others used 6.5 Creedmoore, one bolt gun the other an AR-10 and the third guy switched between 243 and 30-06 (both bolt guns) They were all surprised by the damage that such a small round could produce!

Picking the right bullet for the job can make a real difference. You obviously had no problem playing in the big league.
