CA non-lead ammo hunting now in effect

As of July 1st, CA bans use of lead-based ammo for hunting.

The Department of Fish and Wildlife manages California's diverse fish, wildlife, and plant resources, and the habitats upon which they depend, for their ecological values and for their use and enjoyment by the public.

Unfortunately, Maker is not yet in the “Certified List” for use in CA. I’ve spoken to Paul at Maker a couple of times about it, and he said they are really slow to action.

Dont really care. Lived in CA all my life and hunting here is terrible and a waste of time unless you buy points for 20 years give or take for a half decent tag

So Cavity Back is on the list, which is interesting, since I think Maker actually produces them.

I also see Lehigh Defense Controlled Chaos is there. I should be doing some hog testing with it after I finish with the non-compliant Sierra TMKs.

I don't live in a lead free state, but I use all copper Hammer Hunter bullets in all my hunting rifles. For my Grendels i use the 99 grain. Supper easy load development and very accurate.

Hammer is on the CA list. I just worked up a grendel load for the 99gn Hammer hunters. I like it better than the 100on Barnes ttsx for load/accuracy, but have not yet had the opportunity to see how it works on game. But I've seen only good reports from a couple of hunting forums. For my 260 Rem and 300WM, I've been pretty happy with the Barnes LRX bullets.
