Shot a 2.5 year old whitetail doe 109 lbs field dressed.
She was running by me about 25 yards. First hit was broadside behind the shoulder in the lung area, second hit was above the shoulder in the spine area as she was still running broadside.
I was using the AA 129 SST load.
The distance between the first and second hit was probably 20 yards or so, she was running spooked so even a good hit she would obviously still run a bit.
If I hadn't taken the second shot she wouldn't have made it too far I think. The second shot made her drop from a dead run.
2 whitetail does shot with 123gr Hornady Factory SST.
#1 ~110lb doe shot at 120yds broadside. Entrance just behind the right shoulder, exit just above the left shoulder. Spun in place and died, did not run. Complete pass thru. Exit wound was quarter sized.
#2 90-100lb doe at 90yds. Hit was further back than I liked, middle left ribcage, exit behind right shoulder, ran about 50yds before expiring. Another pass thru.
2 hogs dead 123 gr. SST @ 210 yard's
The one i shot in the shoulder was DRT.
The one my friends 13 year old daughter shot was a gut shot. It ran about 75 -100 yards where we found it. No visible blood trail.
