11pt Buck Takes the Heat from the ole Six5

Saw this beautiful buck a ways off and debated whether or not to shoot him initially. When I got a better look at him I couldn't say "pass". Shot was taken at 120 yards with an AA loaded 120 Barnes TSX. Bullet and its hydrostatic shock did massive damage to the front end of the buck. Both lungs were almost totally liquified and the exit wound on the opposite shoulder was 3/4" in diameter. Amazingly he still ran approx. 35 yards. Genesis 9:3!

    Video here,

      Very nice buck, Congrats

35 yards is not that far for them to run with a boiler room shot. Have seen many that ran up to 100 yards when shot with bigger more powerful rounds. Would say 35 to 75 is about average. I think a lot has to do with how full the lungs are when the bullet hits, fully exhaled often drop right there, full lungs run the further.

Nice shot on a VERY nice buck. How did that rack measure out on the B&C?

Very nice, the old TSX does the trick again! It be nice to have Barnes or Federal offer the TSX in factory loading.

Unfortunately I didn't get around to measuring him. My mind is already switching back over to hog mode now

Thanks! Nice quality on the film, really enjoyed the sunset glow.
Same reaction I've seen from my lungshot deer with 123gr Amax.
