I would like to build this but I think it would end up to heavy, but wanted to pass the info on for any one else. Bighorn Origin action, 700 footprint for stocks and triggers, has replaceable bolt heads and can get ppc/grendel head, takes savage small shank prefit barrels/nuts. Carbon 6 barrels does prefits for small shank savage barrels and they do the grendel chamber and and 6mm ARC have barrel lengths from 16-26 inches. And use the new MDT 10 or 12 round metal 6mm ARC AICS pattern mags. Using this combo action & carbon 6 barrel gets a custom grendel with plenty of stock and trigger options. I have not used carbon 6 before but they claim you should be able to get 1/2 MOA.

Why not just use a Remington 700 donor gun or action? I used a .223 and opened up the bolt face. Still plenty meat left for strength. I used a BDL hinged fore plate. Had to use a .308 mag well (cause larger case dia.) and fabricated a piece of metal to shorten up the length. Used the .223 follower and opened up the feed ramps slightly to get consistent and reliable feeding.
PM me sometime and I will text or email you some pictures.

There are a few Grendel M700s out there, custom work of course.
Here in his first post here is one https://www.65grendel.com/forum/show...ge-Grendel-fan
He used it on a pronghorn shown in this thread. https://www.65grendel.com/forum/show...376#post288376

I believe I have seen some other barrel mfrs that do a remage style barrel, that would go onto a Remmy 700 action but has the barrel nut. Using one of them could save you some money and still be really good.
But any Rem 700 action would work under these circumstances also, it's the barrel/barrel nut that allows you to DIY."Down the floor, out the door, Go Brandon Go!!!!!"

Buying an action for $500+ and a bolt from PTG is another $236 your at $750+ add in the cost of a pic rail and your less than hundred dollars than what the Origin cost and to me is a better action. Unless you got the Remington action for dirt cheap I would not go that route to save a $100 buying new right now. Yes I like to save money but there are times it's not worth it. I have a Remington 783 that I got really cheap but finding stocks is not easy and while I can find some barrels for now, the 783 is discontinued can I find drop in barrels in 10 years? I have looked for extractors and that is not easy, while i got the action cheap and I really like it It is really limited and not worth to me investing a lot of money on a discontinued action that does not fit Remington 700 stocks and parts.Last edited by Draftpick; 01-02-2022, 06:26 PM.
