If you don't have a lower block the Magpul offers more utility.

Bev over the Geissele but Midwest Ind. has a very nice upper receiver rod that also trumps the G rod.
The AR-15 Upper Receiver Rod is the ultimate tool for barrel nut installs or removal, and is excellent for removing stubborn/seized barrel nuts without damaging the upper. Made by Midwest Industries. Shop All AR Upper Parts & Receivers.

On a whim I purchased a KZ Barrel Spline Socket Rod from Botach.com for $49.95. They still have like 985 in stock for the same price. Looks pretty much like the Geissele reaction rod as far as I can tell.
Used it the other day to pull a BCM barrel off and replace it with a Faxon and it did a good job,

Haven't used the Geissele tool, only the BEV. It holds the barrel really well when torquing the barrel nut. Use a stripped bolt carrier to help secure the upper to the BEV. I also like how it holds the lower as a magazine block.

Neither...I use the Brownells Barrel Extension Torque Tool. It does the same job as the Geiselle but is half the price.
Shop gunsmithing tools (704) at Brownells, including bench blocks, hammer & punch sets, screwdrivers, and tool kits for firearm maintenance and repairs.

The Magpul Bev Block uses the receiver as integral to supporting the extension torqueing so I will never use it. There are better solutions to the Bev Block and the old classic clamshells.

Bev block and barrel blocks for vise, when doing muzzle devices etc.. I won’t use a reaction rod if you gave me one

Wheeler Engineering has a new AR-15 Upper Receiver Action Rod. This one is a little different than the Gieselle or Midwest versions. It looks like the lugs on the action rod lock into the barrel extension.

I've been using a bev block for barrel installation & aluminum barrel clamping blocks for muzzle devices. To keep from scratching the barrel, I wrap in a piece of bison hide round it before clamping down. If it slips a little, I give it a short spritz of resin spray (baseball bat stick-um). I use some old delrin blocks for holding uppers vertically when lapping the receiver face.
I refuse to be victimized by notions of virtuous behavior.

Love my RR. Never used the BEV, tempted to obtain one for comparison, but the RR does everything I want it to.
