    Grendelized CZ 527

Picked up my CZ 527 that started as a 7.62X39 carbine and now wears a straight fluted 22 inch Obermeyer 1:8.4 barrel, chambered with a minimum sized SAAMI spec reamer. Action blue printed and squared with the barrel. Factory stock was used but is now glass and pillar bedded with the barrel channel opened up to get rid of the cutouts for the rear sight, the barrel is profiled to fit the new channel contour and free floated the entire length. For mounting the scope I got a DIP products 20moa rail, with it standard low rings will work so will pick those up tomorrow and finish mounting the scope. Will take pictures and post after that. Hopefully will get to shoot it some Tuesday

Work was done by Scott Weichel in Wylie Texas. Though this was his first CZ conversion I doubt it will be his last. He enjoyed the task and made tools along the way to making it a more repeatable job and is talking about how he likes the way it turned out enough to possibly build one for his daughter.

Looking forward to the pics. Sounds like a great stick. This is the plan for my kids too.

The pics I took today do not do it justice so will get some shots tomorrow outside in better lighting. Like the rail over the CZ rings as the 20 MOA cant raises the ocular end of the scope allowing for bigger ocular scopes to be used without using as high of scope rings. Will be cutting off part of the rail that will not be used and hangs off the front of the receiver. Will be mounting a 3X9-42 Kahles on it for now, thinking about a 3.5X21 Bushnell for a future scope for long range shooting and hunting

                    Beautiful! :-)

And at 7.4#'s, that is exactly why many of us are interested in the "shortie" CZ!

Super nice! Almost makes me wish I'd held onto my 527 in .223 - how hard can locating a donor bolt be?

I like the rail, but I wonder if you will need a cheek riser as my CZ-550 did when I added a 20 moa rail to it.

In any case, really looking forward to your range report.

Not the greatest day for a range trip but made one today, wind was 5 to 15mph gusting sometimes a little stronger.

Shot some Hornady SST factory loads, the 2 five shot groups looked about the same with more windage dispersion than what I like but is that it is. Still getting used to this little rifle but love the way it handles. I am sure with reloads and better wind conditions it will get better

Those are one inch squares, Range was 100 yards

Sub-MOA 5rd group from a lightweight micro-action bolt gun? That's a great shooting little fire stick.
