I'm one of the guys you mentioned with cheap AR barrels. Brand new...I only have $175.00 in two 6.5 AR barrels.

They both shoot so good that I thought I would inquiry about bolt guns.

    Thanks for the info!

Has anyone tried overloading the Grendel in their Howa? It might survive the high pressure better than the AR15s.

I've run several load workups with the longer 2.30 COAL to the point of heavy bolt lift. Flattened primers but no case head flow.

I am certain these would fall into the unsafe category, especially in an AR with a 130gr at nearly 2700fps.

I'm guessing that my 28.4 AR Comp for 123sst is over pressure by a bit for my Howa HB-20"... from earlier threads, 28.0 IIRC was the max recommended. No signs of over pressure, 2510 fps MV for me. Believe somebody went up to 28.7 for theirs; I stop at 28.4.

Wow. That's approaching .308 power. Was that with the Labradar?

The problem that we are facing with the bolt gun, is a cartridge that was specifically designed around an AR 15, gas operated and max chamber pressure by design. Bolt guns give us longer COAL, stronger chambers to play with, and no road map to follow. How much we can get away with is the unknown.
