I'll do the same when i finally get to that point. I have a 20" howa #1 in the works and a cz 527 and just ordered a 22" howa and another chassis for it too. In the meantime have any of you chronied your howa's and cz's and specifically with factory hornady ammo or other factory?
Chrony results with factory ammo? Share some data?

I only had time this morning for two groups. Both rifles have less than 25 rounds through them and I started with scrubbed bores.

Everything fed fine from the mag even the 129gr SSTs at 2.310" COL. I think I would choose the 129gr SST load for hunting, didn't notice too much difference in recoil. Fun little rifle to shoot.
All my primers have nice little dimples in them. I didn't see anything crazy going on with the brass, not that I rely on brass as a sign of excessive pressure, but I definitely still look at it. Even the Federal brass looks good.NRA Basic, Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, RSO

Thanks, exactly what i'm looking for. I have lots of eld-m. I'll run it through 22, 20" howa's and the cz american also. Just having a helluva time finding the time. The 22" howa should land any day. Will get them all to about 40 rounds on barrel and then chrony them. I understand peak or stabilized velocity will be around 100 rounds?

And this might finally be the cartridge that gets me into reloading, that's saying something as i've been adamant about not reloading for a long time as i'm into so many other things but i don't think i've also never liked a cartridge as much as i do this one!
I sure like the looks of 2600 fps. I wonder what a cz (or 24" rebarrel) would do with reloads on the 123 gr Tempted to see what a 24" benchmark barrel might do.Last edited by Stinky Coyote; 05-25-2018, 10:12 PM.

My 20" heavy Howa did high 2300's with factory 123 AMax at 30 degrees when it was brand new, and low 2400's with the same lot of ammo in 50-60 degree temps after a hundred rounds or so.
With 29 grains of AR Comp, those same 123 AMax's run just over 2600 fps, shoot sub MOA, and haven't shown me any excess pressure signs with several reloads on the brass. The 123 Scenar takes a hair less powder to make the same velocity, which leads me to believe that it's probably an even lower pressure option. The 123 Scenar also seems like it's gonna want to group, has about the best BC for its weight at Grendel velocities of any bullet Litz has in his book, and made it through 4 gallon milk jugs filled with water at 25 paces and 2600+ fps MV.
Also, I ran those 123 Amax's up to 2672 and didn't get the sticky bolt lift that I have the couple times I've ventured too high with this rifle. I'm not saying anything is safe in anyone else's rifle, but I think 2600 with a 123 is pretty safe in mine.
