Range Report Howa 22 inch, 6.5 Grendel.

    Folks,

I took the Howa today, and I must say I was very impressed. The rifle cycled well, fed the cartridges without a hitch. A Leupold 3x9x40 CDS sits atop the rifle. Redfield bases, Remington 700 style 2 piece.
A slow barrel break in was commenced, 1 shot clean, did that x 10. Let the barrel cool between shots. Then a little Sweets 7.62, then a few patches between.
The ammo used was 28.5gr CFE223, Privi brass, #34 CCI primers and a 123gr A-Max. Groups were good, about MOA at 100 yards. But the rifle is so light, when shot from a bipod the rifle jumps. But I give it to operator error. So I have to work harder on my shooting technique.
I was able to slam the gongs at 200-600 yards quite easily. But the barrel heated up quickly, so for consistency it was shoot, wait a bit shoot again. So I will need more range time, and practice. Very happy with the rifle. Howa makes a great product. I pick up a 6.5 Creedmoor on the 21st, another Howa. A2
