    Finished Zastava M85 Grendel

    Pac-Nor 21" Match # 4 / Cerakote Socom Blue
Rem 799 stock w/ Pachmayr Decelerator
Vortex Viper HS LR 2.5-10x32 FFP

This is the 3rd Grendel I've built during surgery recovery stemming from being taken out by an undocumented Democrat while leaving work on my Buell XB12X. It's been fun and I've learned a lot!

Sorry the cellphone doesn't do it justice. I doubt the deer, hogs, and coyotes will care.

Nice, how does it feed with the longer projectiles?

I really like your Zastava, great looking stock. I bet that will be a shooter, did you convert a 7.62 X 39 M85?

Good looking stick, looking forward to the range report

Like the scope choice, have same one that will find a home on one of the Grendels that are in the safe.

                Thanks all.

Yes it's a rebarrelled 7.62x39. I have a leftie buddy who gets anxious sometimes and buys righty rifles, then has buyers remorse, and usually offers them to me first. This project has been going on since the Grendel first SAAMI'd. I originally contacted the CZ Custom Shop about a CZ527 Target/Varmint in 6.5 Grendel, but they wanted $1400 and I was still paying Dr bills. Then my leftie buddy sold me a Sako Vixen .223 to finance a Savage Axis and I was ready to convert that until I found that if anything boltwise broke after enlarging the face I would have a bear of a time replacing it which defeated the reason for a bolt action IMO. That's one sweet S491 featured in this forum by Roe. I couldn't find a used Sako PPC donor for less than the price of my first born, so it was back to drawing boards. Then my buddy sold me the M85 and turned around and bought himself a left handed version in 7.62x39 and the rest is pretty much what you see.

The stock is a Remington 799/Zastava from Stockys. I think it was $60? It reminds me of the Remington VLS stocks that I've always admired. I've been happy with the Vortex line so far I think they're a great value.

Haven't been to the range yet, but a report and pics will follow!

                Thanks, Will

                    Thanks sneaky
After eight surgeries I think everything that can be fixed has been fixed and that that light may in fact be the end of the tunnel and not another train.
                    It's been slow going.
