New Grendel owner here courtesy of a trip down to Houston to pick up a Radical Firearms version with a 24 inch barrel. Added a Geissele trigger and a Vortex Viper PST 4-16x56 ffp mil scope. Took it to the indoor 100 yd range up in Frisco more to get acquainted with it than to shoot for groups, but first impressions are that I like it.
Build quality appears to be good. Upgraded SSE trigger is excellent as expected. I had some feeding issues with the metal mag that came with it, and I had better luck with a polymer 5.56 mag borrowed from a friend. We were only loading 5 at a time and the sample size was small, but it was a little disappointing. Maybe it's a break-in issue.
My hope is that this setup allows me to compete accuracy wise with my buddies at around 600-800 yds with their AR10 308s. They've set up a course on private property north of Dallas with a nice tree stand that allows prone position shooting. The rifle will also be used for hogs/deer and coyote. Should be fun. Took it to a 1000 yd range a few weeks ago and was pleased with its accuracy at that range: 4 out of 6 hits on a 2moa steel target after three rounds to get the right dope. Wind was <5mph quartering into us from the right. Using 123 gr Hornady AMAX rounds.
Just received my Radical Firearms 6.5 Grendal today. 20 inch stainless barrel with Radicals pepper pot brake, Luth MBA1 stock 1 20 round ACS mag, plano rifle hard case an I have to say it was not to bad a price. If it shoots as good as it looks that will be great. Installed an Osprey 6x24x50 scope, extended lever on the charging handle and a battery assist. Will post pics when I find my camera.
