  • My 6.5 Grendel build is done

I don't have a flash hider so I put the stubby suppressor on. Don't worry, it's 30 cal.

Barrel is a Liberty deep fluted. We cut the 9/16-24 threads off, crowned, threaded 5/8-24, and blackened the stainless. Was 18". Now it's just under 17.5".

MI SS 15" It's supposed to be OD. More of a light park grey. Really nice but not what I wanted.

    This sucker is light.

Oh, and the good news is that I got my mags TODAY! This sucker is ready to go!!!! Just need better optics and a real bipod.

Looks pretty nice, does have some colors on it. Like the stubby.

Nice-looking blaster. If you Cerakote it OD Green, it will all be a matching OD, and will protect the finish for life. I've been doing it for a while now, and it blows away Duracoat and other PTFE coatings hands-down. It also sticks to Nitro-carb'd finishes, so there's not much it won't stick to.

The newer Super Snipers from SWFA here in Texas are excellent optics for the money. Also, there is the Geissele triggers - a lot of different choices along with an Atlas bipod should do it. Looks sweet.

Nice rig. I put that same OD green forearm on one of my 6x45's. It's the same grey. Will pull it and do a Cerakote OD Green to match. I agree on the Cerakote. Good stuff. I used it on the mentioned 6x45 in forest green with the OD green furniture. Just finished another 6x45 today using graphite black Cerakote on a Shilen 18" CM bbl I turned/chambered.

Snew, how does the Liberty barrel shoot? I am thinking of picking up the 16 inch for a carry all day deer rifle.

I was finally able to shoot it yesterday. I think the barrel shoots well. My trigger is absolutely awful and that grip pod blows as a bipod. On a rest with very dilligent trigger control I got ~1 MOA 5 shot group @100. It's definately a decent barrel for hunting and my build is light enought to carry all day.

I wasn't too impressed with the Liberty barrel initially. When I got it the barrel extention had a lot of surface rust and the flutes aren't clocked with the gas hole/extention. Not a big deal but it kinda lets you know it's a budget barrel even if you paid $267 shipped. Maybe my expectations are too high.

I have an Atlas bipod on the way. I'm looking into triggers now. Any suggestions?

Wow, I just have to compare to the forum barrel/bolt offers. Roughly same $$$, SS barrel, super clean extension, properly packaged, AA Bolt. Just don't see the Liberty barrels as a good value in comparison. My 16" is shooting very well in my carbine. I guess the fluting would be one difference in the Liberty, don't know if that's an option in the forum deals.

Thanks for the update on the Liberty barrel. I just ordered a 16" from the Satern clearance for a stalking rifle. A light MOA rifle is what I was lookiing for and from what I have been reading I should get it.

I got an optic and bipod. I have a flash hider too but it's being blackened. Eventually I'll just have 1 pic of the whole thing.

It can shoot if I do my part. 300 yds, Last 3 shots out of 14 I fired yesterday. I know 3 shots isn't exactly a group. I thought I had 4 in the mag. I was pretty consistent this though. This was through the suppressor.
