    Down the Grendel rabbit hole

Just added my second 6.5G, this one being in AR form. It's a 16" heavy barrel BCA complete upper, Anderson lower, and a PSA flat face single stage trigger (3 lbs).

I've heard BCA can be hit or miss. The guy claims he was shooting 1" groups with it wearing a 6-18 scope. Says he's buying three Ruger Ranch 6.5C to suppress for himself and his two boys who are starting hunting this year.

I did about 30 different loads (ladder loads) and NEVER Got The BCA to work.
I had about 1 in 50 rounds get STUCK in the chamber. So, one day I'm looking at it really hard with a bright light and see like a tool mark that looks like a ring. Well, I had the barrel for over a year. I even FIRE lapped the darned thing. I called them and they never answered. I ordered out a Krieger barrel and can't get that to shoot either.
SO, I bought a upper from PSA and after hassling with loads due to AVAILABILITY (more like lack of) due to kohvhid etc, can't get the power. been trying to get H 4895 for 4 years now in both AZ and TX. bullets, I gave up on the 123 hornady's. Seem to have the best luck with Lupua 108 OTM Scenar. A lady (Dianne) on this site recommended a few loads and I was able to hook up some TAC power and BINGO. Finally got the rifle grouping.
I was ready to give up on the grendel. It's been 4 years due to INAvailability of supplies etc and the fact that we moved from AZ to TX
I would not recommend a BCA. With all the dough I spent, I should have just bought a complete rifle from Alexander Arms.!!
loads I used are in the loading forum.

            FC:

Just looked at Natchez Shooters Supply. They have H 4895.

I have not had a problem finding any rifle or pistol powder for a couple of years so if you look, you will find it and probably any powder you want.

Unfortunately, the prices seem to continue upwards.

The powders from Australia/ADI come and go in batches, H4895 among them. Both it and Xbr showed up a few weeks ago, if you want those (and they are good for the grendel), you have to get on the notify email list of a few providers, then jump when the email comes in. Also check Hodgdon frequently - I know it takes some work... Hodg' isn't on ammoseek (another place where you can set up a notify for powders or anything they got). I've been waiting for H4895 - IIRC - a couple of years, but it is in stock here and there for now.
BTW, I've also discovered Benchmark to be ~the same as H4895 for some of my loads, you might look into that one also if you want. Or Ar Comp... also in that ballpark.

I'm with you on the BCA barrels. mine was a tomato stake.
I'm finding the 120 tgk to be a good one in place of the hornadys... but everyone needs to do their own workups.
