Is the barrel extension for a 6.5 Grendel barrel just a standard AR barrel extension, or is there a special Grendel barrel extension?

It is usually an M4 barrel extension with the extended feed ramps, and needs to be of quality manufacture. The reason is that certain extensions are heat-treated after the ramps are broached, and they warp ever so slightly, which doesn't matter on a 5.56 or .204 Ruger gun. On the Grendel, the larger case diameter and the extractor travel over the rim need the clearance that a concentric extension provides, otherwise you can experience a really weird Failure To Feed with the cartridge halfway in the chamber.
