Zeus, yeah, I see it all of the time online! Everyone shoots .25" 5 shot groups, every group, every load they try and that is in 10-15mph cross winds!

I had some fun on PF's website pricing out barrels with the options I wanted...more than the whole Seekins upper total build cost! I did some research on other barrels, too; Satern/Brownells seems to get some good reviews on their barrels. I found a spreadsheet online where people post their load data, comments, groups size, etc and Satern barrels seemed to do very well in the mid price range, but the groups dropped below 1/2" when the good barrels were used! Satern was around 1/2-3/4, with many loads and different shooters, so that may be the way to go once I do the semi. One thing I kept reading was semi auto shooting is different than bolt action shooting. I am used to Bolt Action target shooting and I think I am going to go bolt action for my first 6.5 Grendel since that is what I am used to and to keep it simple (not have to worry about small base dies, gas pressure and cycling issues, mag feed length, upgrading triggers, etc). From there, I will upgrade one of my AR triggers to a match trigger and work on accuracy with my 223 Wylde set up to get used to shooting an AR for accuracy vs the bolt gun and see which I prefer.

Leaning towards the Howa 1500 20" HB set up in the factory stock (not chassis) to start on. Very few CZ Varmits available anymore and the 26" barrel is way too long for what I want it for. The 24" barrel on the 527 Lux I have in 223 is a bit long when walking around, so I def want a shorter barrel! My Howa 308 is stupidly accurate and I am used to their plastic mag system. I may upgrade to a Boyds stock or just leave it as is in the factory pillar stock, but modify it to stiffen the forend up a bit.

I want to say thanks for all of your help and answers. You gave me the honest info I was looking for; to get an Accurate AR Upper, I would be in a whole different price ball park than I currently am at and I would need better triggers in my AR's and would need to learn some different things to shoot an AR for accuracy vs the bolt actions I am used to. Other forums make it seem like a cheap PSA/Radical/etc build will be sub MOA all day long from some of the reviews I have seen so I appreciate the honest answers I got here. On to the Bolt Action sub forum!

The first 3 groups from my Odin 20 inch barrel in a rifle I assembled myself were .750 .862 and .750 respectively with factory Hornady SST. Decided it shot where I aimed it I have a Vortex Viper 6.5 x 20 x 44 optic (the lower cost version) I also got a Rock River 2 stage NM trigger in the $80-90 range. My whole build list was posted when I made the rifle a year and a half ago. The most expensive parts were the Odin Barrel and bolt, Vortex Scope, Luth AR MBA-3 and ADM recon 20 moa scope mount these alone ran close to a grand. Some of the parts like the $69 Rouse Sports 15inch Keymod forend were quite bargain basement. The rifle with scope also tips the scales at 10 lbs. A bolt gun should come in well under 10 lbs with optic unless one gets a 50 mm or large objective.
