Pardon the ignorance, what's wrong with those two things?

Any word on the quality of maxim bolts?

The barrel from Satern/Liberty has a Grendel II chamber which shoots 6.5 Grendel ammunition. The throat of a Grendel II chamber is different than a SAAMI 6.5 Grendel chamber with compound throat and .300 neck. The Grendel II chamber uses a standard tapered throat with long free bore to accommodate long heavy bullets. The Satern/Liberty barrels generally are head spaced to use bolts with a .136 bolt face depth referred to as a Type 2 bolt by Black Whole Weaponry (BHW).

I have read many good reports on Maxim bolts and are used by several vendors.

There really isn't anything wrong with either the barrel or bolt however Satern released several out of spec barrels several years ago. After this fiasco Satern introduced the Grendel II chamber implying the problem was with the 6.5 Grendel chamber design. This did not set well with many consumers and a few forum members. As a consumer you have to decide if the difference in the chamber design is important. The problem barrels were the button rifled bargain brand (Liberty) and not the Satern high quality cut rifled barrels. Satern still offers the cut rifled barrels with the SAAMI 6.5 Grendel chamber. I think Satern released the Grendel II barrels because they can be manufactured quicker and cheaper than the SAAMI 6.5 Grendel chamber.

dont forget satern tried to blame the problem on the hornady ammo instead of admitting the reamer used wasn't a saami chamber. Then they offered to scrape the chambers but the customer had to pay the shipping.

Thankfully the 6.5 Grendel continues to grow despite people like satern.

I have emailed and talked to the owner of grendelhunter.com. Guy seems like a straight shooter. He even went as far as putting some different forearms on his uppers to give me exact weights. Every time I emailed him I got a response within a few hours. They offer a %5 military discount. I am going to end up building my own upper so I won't be purchasing one of his but just wanted everyone to know that the company seems like a good place to do business.

My main concern was I will primarily be shooting factory ammo and by a few accounts the grendel 2 chambers are shooting the factory ammo pretty slow( don't know this just what I have read). They supposedly can be handloaded hotter than the sammi spec( don't know this just what I have read). Since I wanted the best velocity I could get with factory loads and still have a fairly light upper I went with a alexander arms 18" fluted barrel.

Grendelhunter.com 16" complete upper, ordered Saturday, shipped Monday, arrived today. So fast I have to wait a month until my bday to open it. I might be able to sneak it our for a peak and do a quick video overview in the meantime. When I do I'll let you know and post a link to the video in a new thread.

Like I said I don't know how these will work out. But the owner is really on top of things. If you have a question he responds quickly, not surprised they shipped it out so quickly

Are the Grendelhunter.com uppers the type that Alexander Arms sells with the .136 bolt that is SAAMI spec? Or are they a type II non-SAAMI?

they are the .136 bolt. No saami specs on the bolt. But the standard for AA and really any saami spec chamber will be .136 bolt. But the chamber is not saami. Its the grendel 2 chamber which does away with the compound throat. Some reports say that with factory ammo the Grendel 2 chambers don't get nearly as much velocity. On the other hand many say that with the grendel 2 chamber and loading out further allowing more speed in handloads.
