Legacy Sports International"s New Mini Action 6.5 Grendel Rifles

Legacy Sports International announced the company was now shipping the new Howa Mini Action rifles chambered in 6.5 Grendel. The new guns use the company’s mini action – a bolt action that is roughly 12% shorter than traditional short action bolts. The new guns are the first bolt action production guns to ever be chambered in 6.5 Grendel according to Legacy Sports International. These rifles will be available with barrels of 20″ and 22″, and the barrels will have three different contour options available to order (20″ light, 20″ heavy or 22″ heavy.) The overall length of these rifles is either 39.5″ or 41.5″ depending on the barrel length.

I noticed this at the bottom of your link. Core Rifle Systems is offering a Grendel.

CORE Rifle Systems is a manufacturer of quality AR-15 Rifles and Pistols built in Ocala, FL. Established in 2010 as a subsidiary to Good Time Outdoors, Inc.

Just curious, are there any aftermarket stocks that fit these new mini action grendels?

I am afraid that it would be awfully early to hope to find those yet.

No one makes aftermarket stocks for the new mini action. Boyds may eventually but I don't expect them any time soon.

OK once these are in the wild and start selling like hotcakes. Who'll be next to join into the fray with a Grendel Boltie? Federal needs to make some hunting ammo and lower the price on the OTM offering.

Been a fan of the Grendel from the very beginning and haven't second guessed that choice one time.

There wont be much point of a bolt action rifle company chambering in 6.5 Grendel (as compared to say the .260) unless that company makes a micro length action all ready. That kinda limits it to Howa CZ and Zastava.

Not to argue but there are an awful lot of 700's in .223 & 300BO, .222 and probably others. Savage has a micro action, but I don't know if it's big enough for the Grendel. I would look for ruger to jump on the wagon, they have sweet little .22 hornets but accuracy is spotty as a lot of their m77 offerings that I've dealt with. Who knows. We will see.

Ruger and Remington have offered 6.8SPC bolt actions in the M77 and the 700 respectively. Sure both could make it work in a Grendel. I think they should go for it and include it in their youth and ladies offerings as well. Can you think of a much better boltaction hunting cartridge for those that want a rifle for their kids. The 243 kinda rules that area now but the Grendel offers a lot with less recoil and muzzle blast

i don't really see the point of a micro action according to the howa website it saves 2.9 oz over a short action with the sacrifice of no after market anything and keeping you to the constraints of a short magwell....

now I'm a big grendel fan and usually prefer bolt action rifles but once you leave the ar15 platform i feel like there are better options such that those who want to over pressure the grendel to make it a 260 or creedmor can just chamber the gun in 260 or creed more and keep their eyes and fingers or if its for youth where recoil may be a concern by all means chamber the gun in grendel and use a standard short action to allow longer loading of heavier higher bc bullets if thats your thing but i would still keep the pressure down thing work better at reasonable pressure....

that said I'm all for grendel bolt guns and i will probably build or get one eventually but probably not a micro....
                      Punctuation is for the weak....

Just my opinion but, I really like the working a micro length action more than I like working the .308 length or 30 06 length actions. (And working the action on a full sized action (.375 H&H) is just a chore.) And its not just the 2.9 saved oz; but the micro action begs for a shorter lighter scope-you'll probably save an additional 10 oz on that . And with a shorter lighter rifle & scope its probable the scopes objective bell will be smaller than what you have now - thereby allowing the scope to be lower on the rifle thus improving the balance of the entire package.
The entire package will just handle better. Just wait and see!

Exactly. My wife is just starting to get into hunting, and if she doesn't like my AR then this little rifle would be just about perfect for her. She's 5'2" and petite.

My heavy barreled version is under 6 pounds, so ANY version is light. This may be the perfect "mountain" rifle in that regard.

I don't personally have any interest in a 6.5g bolt action but I am very happy to see it. The more manufactures building rifles in this cartridge means the popularity is increasing. Now we just need some ammo companies to start making brass cased 6.5 Grendel for the same price as brass 5.56

Competition in a market usually benefits the consumer
