Sierra 120 performance on yotes

Two part question
1). How do these perform on yotes from 70-500 yards.
2). Any load data using 8208 XBR or Varget.

I have bullets coming tomorrow and want to work up some loads to test. I'm shooting my 18" AR with 1/8 twist.

Look at the various sticky's on load data.

28 - 28 1/2 grains of 8208 ought to be fine. You will get good accuracy and about as good a velocity as you will get from the cartridge capacity.

You won't get enough Varget into a Grendel case with any bullet to get decent velocities. You will get fine accuracy but poor velocity.

With the Sierra 120 Pro-Hunter I got good results with 28.8g of Varget. Very accurate, I don't know what kind of velocities it gets. Some say the velocities are lower than say with the 8208 that may be but it shoots good.

Are you talking about matchkings or pro hunters?

Best group I have shot with 120 matchkings was .630 in using 28 gn. Of 8208 xbr at 2.250 inchs and br4 primers.

Just got them in and did a quick COL measurement. They ended up at 2.170 which is .020 off the lands. My 120 Amax ended up at 2.219 with .020 off the lands.

Does this sound right??
