    108 Lapua recipe

I just got some 108 pills and wondered if anyone has tried them w/xbr or Lvr?

If you look at Alexander Arms' data in the 6.5 Grendel Reloading Handbook, there is data for the 108gr Scenar with 8 different powders. H335 has the same burn rate on a chart as 8208XBR, and H335 is listed among the powders for the 108gr Scenar.

I personally would work up a load with XBR starting at 26.5gr, increasing in .3gr increments. Keep in mind, the 108gr Scenar is a 123gr with less lead inside, so it behaves more like a 123gr when loading for it due to the bearing surface (more resistance = pressure builds faster).

The 6th & 7th projectiles in this line-up are the 108 and 123gr Scenars, from left to right. The only way to tell them apart is by putting them on a scale.

Can you treat the Sierra 107g. hpbt the same as the Lapua 108g? I have been wanting to try IMR XBR 8208 with those pills, but haven't gotten around to it. The only bullets I have loaded with that powder so far are 120g. Nosler BT's. and 95g. vmax.

The 107gr SMK is shorter than the 108gr Scenar. There is plenty of reloading data for it from AA, Hodgdon's, and Western Powders. The 6.5 Grendel Reloading Handbook has 16 different powder combinations with the 107gr SMK alone, all on pressure-tested equipment from both 24" and 20" barrels (pages 39, 50, & 53). The data between the 107gr SMK and 108gr Scenar are very close though, within a few 10ths of a grain usually.
